ORDINANCE NO. yy4/
AN ORDINANCE to designate the Omaha Bolt, Nut & Screw Building, located at
1316 Jones Street as a Landmark pursuant to the Landmark Preservation
Ordinance of the City of Omaha.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
Section 1. That the Omaha Bolt, Nut & Screw Building is located at 1316
Jones Street, which is on the following described land, to wit:
Lot 6 and South 1/2 of Lots 7 and 8, Block 173, in the Original
City of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.
Section 2. That for the reasons recited in Landmarks Heritage
Preservation Commission Resolution attached hereto as Exhibit I, and made a
part hereof as if fully set forth herein, the architectural characteristics of
the Omaha Bolt, Nut & Screw Building are hereby deemed significant and worthy
of preservation.
Section 3. That the "Secretary of Interior's Standards for
Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings", as may
be from time to time amended, are hereby adopted as the design standards to be
applied in the enforcement of this Ordinance and Chapter 24, Article II of the
Omaha Municipal Code.
Section 4. That the Omaha Bolt, Nut & Screw Building is hereby
designated pursuant to Section 24-61 of the Omaha Municipal Code, and hereby
subject to all of the provisions of this Ordinance and Chapter 24, Article II
of the Omaha Municipal Code.

Section 5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect
fifteen (15) days from and after the date of its passage.

RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA :
WHEREAS, the 1516 Jones Street Limited Partnership is the
owner of the Omaha Bolt, Nut and Screw Building ; and ,
WHEREAS , this owner requested that the Omaha Bolt , Nut and
Screw Building be designated as a Landmark under the City of
Omaha s Landmarks Heritage Preservation Ordinance: and ,
WHEREAS , wholesale Jobbing contributed significantly to
Omaha ' s commercial development in the late nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries : and ,
WHEREAS , at that time, many of the ci _ ies largest and most
notable businesses built substantial warehouse structures
near the rail , ines on the eastern and southern edges of
dowrtown : and ,
.iH_REAS . The Omaha Bolt . Nut and Screw Building is
significant architectur,= lly as a fine evample of the late
nineteenth century warehouse in Omaha in terms of form .
function . tecnnoiog - and style as eitlined in the National
Register Multiple Property document "Wareho.uses in Omaha" :

WHEREAS, the Omaha Bolt. Nut and Screw Building is
significant in the area of commerce. having housed several
different manufacturers and distributors including a tinware
manufacturer , a candy manufacturer , a wholc_aale paper
distributor and most recently the Omaha Dolt . Nut and Screw
Company , a wholesale hardware business ; and ,
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the owner of the Omaha Bolt ,
Nut and Screw Building to renovate the structure for use as
apartments and commercial space in a manner consistent with
historic preservation standards set out by the Secretary of
Interior; and .
WHEREAS, this case application and supporting data are
attached hereto as eAhibits , and incorporated herein by this
reference.
NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE
PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT , the Omaha Bolt . Nut and Screw Building , 1316 Jones Street
