AN ORDINANCE to designate the house located at 2864 Corby Street as a Landmark
pursuant to the Landmark Heritage Preservation Ordinance of the City of
Omaha.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
Section 1. That the house located at 2864 Corby Street, which is on the
property legally described as:
Lot 24, Block 1, Catalpa Place, Douglas County, Nebraska,
is historically significant.
Section 2. That for the reasons cited in the Landmarks Heritage
Preservation Commission Resolution attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and made a
part hereof by reference, states the historical value of the house located at
2854 Corby Street and is therefore deemed significant and worthy of
recognition.
Section 3. That the house at 2864 Corby Street is hereby designated as a
Landmark pursuant to Section 24-61 of the Omaha Municipal Code.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect
fifteen (15) days from and after the date of its passage.

LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Pastor Elijah L. Hill , State Historian of The
Churches of God in Christ in Nebraska, and Robert Alexander ,
owner of the house at 2864 Corby Street, requested that the
house at 2864 Corby Street be designated as a Landmark under
the City of Omaha ' s Landmarks Heritage Preservation
Ordinance; and ,
WHEREAS, Mr . Edward D. Robinson and Mrs. Lizzie Robinson
resided at 2864 Corby Street with their daughter from 1916
to 1924: and .
WHEREAS. Mr . Edward D. and Mrs. Lizzie Robinson founded the
first Church of God in Christ in the state ❑f Nebraska in
1916 in Omaha: and ,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lizzie Robinson is significant historically
for her role as organizer of the women s ministry for the
Church of God in Christ , the largest African American
Pentecostal denomination in the world; and ,
WHEREAS, many of the denomination ' s early pioneers stayed at
2864 Corby Street when they visited Omaha; and ,
WHEREAS, 2864 Corby Street is the only extant house in Omaha
associated with Mrs. Lizzie Robinson; and ,
WHEREAS, this case application and supporting data are
attached hereto as exhibits, and incorporated herein by this
reference.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE
PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, 2864 Lorhy Street be designated as a Landmark of the City
of Omaha.
