AN ORDINANCE to designate the Kent Apartments, located at 832 and 834 South 24th
Street and 907 South 25th Street as a Landmark pursuant to the Landmark Heritage
Preservation Ordinance of the City of Omaha.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
Section I. That the Kent Apartments are located at 832 and 834 South 24th Street
and 907 South 25th Street, which is on the following described land, to wit:
Lot 33, Block 0, Redicks 2nd Addition to the City of Omaha, Douglas County,
Nebraska.
Section 2. That for the reasons recited in Landmarks Heritage Preservation
Commission Resolution attached hereto as Exhibit I, and made a part hereof as if fully set
forth herein, the architectural characteristics of the Kent Apartments are hereby deemed
significant and worthy of preservation.
Section 3. That the Kent Apartments are hereby designated pursuant to Section 24-
61 of the Omaha Municipal Code, and hereby subject to all of the provisions of Landmark
Heritage Preservation, Ch. 24, Art. II.of the City of Omaha.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect fifteen (15) days
from and after the date of its passage.

LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS , TABOO , Inc . is the owner of the Kent Apartments ; and ,
I ,
WHEREAS , Tom Paltani , representing TABOO , Inc . on April 22 ,
1903 requested that the Kent Apartments he designated a Landmark
under the City of Omaha' s Landmark Heritage Preservation Ordinance ;
and,
WHEREAS , the Kent Apartments , renamed in 1967 , consist of the
Leone Apartments built in 1909, the " Intenttne Apartrerts, built In
1911 , the Carpathia Apartments , built in 1912 and the common court-
yard that lies between, and ,
WHEREAS ,, the Kent Apartments were built by Vincent P . Chiodo ,
an Italian immigrant who arrived in Omaha in 1885 and went on to
become a millionaire and achieve prominence in business and politics ;
and,
WHEREAS , the Kent Apartments are an integral and important part
of the history of Omaha ' s first Italian colony ; and ,
WHEREAS , the Kent Apartments were built with stones from the
old Douglas County Courthouse and jail ; and,
WHEREAS , the Kent Apartments are a rare example of apartment
design in Omaha based on the Second Renaissance Revival style of
architecture , a style more commonly reserved for large scale public
buildings ; and,
WHEREAS , this case application and supporting data are attached
hereto as exhibits , and Incorporated herein by this reference .
NOW, THEREFORE , HE IT RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE
PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY 03' OMAHA :
THAT, the Kent Apartments , 832 6, 834 South 24th Street and
907 South 25th Street , be designated as a Landmark of the City of
Omaha .
