AN ORDINANCE to designate the Monmouth Park School, located at 408 North 33rd Street
as a Landmark pursuant to the Landmark Heritage Preservation Ordinance of the
City of Omaha.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
Section I. That the Monmouth Park School is located at 4508 North 33rd Street,
which is on the following described land, to wit:
Lots I through 7 and Lots 20 through 26, Block 8, Monmouth Park Addition to the
City of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.
Section 2. That for the reasons recited in Landmarks Heritage Preservation
Commission Resolution attached hereto as Exhibit I, and made a part hereof as if fully set
forth herein, the architectural characteristics of the Monmouth Pi ik School are hereby
deemed significant and worthy of preservation.
Section 3. That the Monmouth Park School is hereby designated pursuant to Section
24-61 of the Omaha Municipal Code,and hereby subject to all of the provisions of Landmark
Heritage Preservation, Ch. 24, Art. II.of the City of Omaha.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect fifteen (15) days
from and after the date of its passage.

MONMOUTH PARK SCHOOL
LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA :
WHEREAS , the N-J-D Partnership is the owner of Monmouth Park
School : and,
WHEREAS , Fred Newson , representing the N-J-D Partnership on
April 28 , 1983 , requested that Monmouth Park School be designated
a Landmark under the City of Omaha' s Landmark Heritage Preservation
Ordinance ; and,
WHEREAS , mon'nnuth Park School ,as originally nuilt in 190;
and expanded in 1905 ; and ,
WHEREAS , Monmouth Park School was designed by Thomas Kimball ,
considered to be Nebraska ' s finest architect , who also designed
such other notable Omaha structures as St . Cecilias Cathedral , the
Burlington Headquarters buLlding , and the former Omaha Public
Library, and who served with C. Howard Walker as Architect-in-Chief
for the 1896 Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition ; and,
WHEREAS , Monmouth Park School is a simple , but finely detailed
example of the Second Renaissance Revival style of architecture ;
and ,
WHEREAS , the Monmouth Park School is representive of early
20th century school design in Omaha , and ,
WHEREAS , this case application and supporting data are attached
hereto as exhibits , and incorporated herein by this reference .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LANDMARKS HERITAGE
PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, Monmouth Park School , 4508 North 33rd Street , be resignated
as a Landmark of the City of Omaha.
