Members of the Omaha City Council

Dear President Festersen and members of the City Council,
The citizen members of the Charter Study Convention recently completed their review of the City Charter
and forwarded 24 recommendations to you for consideration.
I am very grateful to the Convention members for a thorough review and thoughtful debate. The
members were informed, considered different points of view, and compromised. All but one of the
recommended amendments passed by a unanimous vote.
I encourage you to recognize the work of the Convention members and support placing all 24
amendments on the ballot later this year, or in 2024, and let the voters make the final decision. The
changes appropriately update the City Charter and plan for the future of our City.
Sincerely,
Jean Stothert
Mayor, City of Omaha
