Attached for your consideration is a Resolution to appoint the initial members to the Property
Maintenance Appeals Board.
The ordinance that created the Property Maintenance Appeals Board requires that Board
members be appointed as representatives of designated groups for specified staggered initial
terms. The six persons appointed by this resolution meet the requirements of the ordinance.
Because the ordinance requires the Board have nine members, two positions with a one-year
term and one position with a two-year term remain vacant. Additional members will be
submitted to the City Council in the near future.
The Résumés of the initial appointees are attached for your information.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 48-131 of the Omaha Municipal Code, a Property
Maintenance Appeals Board was created and established; and,
WHEREAS, Sections 48-132 and 48-133 of the Omaha Municipal Code provide for the
appointment by the Mayor of the members of the Property Maintenance Appeals Board and their
initial terms; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Stothert has nominated the following persons to serve as initial
members of the Property Maintenance Appeals Board, as representative of the designated group,
to serve terms commencing on August 14, 2015, and continue until the end of each of their
respective terms:
Steven Andersen, as the Master Electrician member, for an initial term of two years;
Karen Bexton, as the Structural Engineer member, for an initial term of two years;
Shawn Deane, as a responsible tenant member, for an initial term of three years;
William Hanes, as a responsible tenant member, for an initial term of one year;
James Lang, as the Attorney member on the Board, for an initial term of three years; and,
Jerry Standerford, as the Residential Landlord member, for an initial term of three years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, the appointment by Mayor Stothert of Steven Andersen, Karen Bexton, Shawn
Deane, William Hanes, James Lang, and Jerry Standerford to serve as members of the Property

Jerry Standerford has served as the President of Lane Building Corporation since 1989,and has
overseen the operations of Sherwood Homes,Inc. since 1986. Sherwood Homes,Inc. and Lane
Building Corporation have had a reputable and solid presence in Omaha's home building
industry during that time,developing land in numerous subdivisions and building over 2,500
homes across the larger Omaha metropolitan area. As well as a licensed builder,Jerry is the only
builder in the Omaha metropolitan area to be recognized a Graduate Master Builder(GMB) by
the National Association of Home Builders.
Since 2011,Jerry has served on the board of the Metropolitan Omaha Builders Association
(MOBA),and was elected as President of the Association in the years 2012 and 2013. Along
with his responsibilities of presidency while at MOBA,he has also been heavily involved as a
member of the Codes and Regulations Committee, working alongside local and state officials to
monitor and develop both existing and new codes and regulations to benefit home buyers and the
home building industry statewide. Jerry has also served on the IRC Review Committee since
2000,working closely with city officials in the adoption of the new IRC codes.
As an instrument rated private pilot, Jerry volunteers his time to Pilots N Paws,transporting
rescue dogs across the Midwest,and has also been involved since 2001 as a volunteer with the
North Omaha Good.News Bears.
Jerry currently lives in Omaha District 5 with his wife of 40 years, Carla.
