RES 2017-0127 - Board of eq reports approval January 10, 2017 WHEREAS, Notice of the Sitting of the City Council as a Board of Equalization on January 10, 2017 was published in the Daily Record and posted on the public Bulletin Boards in the Omaha/Douglas Civic Center on December 27, 28, and 29, 2016, as required by law, and; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Omaha has been sitting as a Board of Equalization from 1:00 p.m., January 10, 2017 to 1:40 p.m., January 10, 2017, for the purpose of equalizing the proposed levies of special taxes to cover the cost of the several improvements specified in the published notice of such meeting as follows: AMOUNTS PROPOSED AS SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS TO COVER THE CHARGES FOR REMOVING LITTER ON CERTAIN LOTS AND PARCELS OF REAL ESTATE IN THE CITY OF OMAHA, DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEBRASKA, PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 18-21 THROUGH 18-30 OF THE OMAHA MUNICIPAL CODE — LITTER GROUP NO. 2017-04 $/17,571.60 $45,906.15 AMOUNTS PROPOSED AS SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS TO COVER THE CHARGES FOR CUTTING AND CLEARING WEEDS, GRASS AND WORTHLESS VEGETATION ON CERTAIN LOTS AND PARCELS OF REAL ESTATE IN THE CITY OF OMAHA, DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEBRASKA, PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 18-21 THROUGH 18-30 OF THE OMAHA MUNICIPAL CODE — WEEDS GROUP NO. 2017- 05 $124,479.00 $117,664.00 AMOUNTS PROPOSED AS SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS TO COVER THE CHARGES FOR CUTTING AND CLEARING WEEDS, GRASS AND WORTHLESS VEGETATION ON CERTAIN LOTS AND PARCELS OF REAL ESTATE IN THE CITY OF OMAHA, DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEBRASKA, PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 18-21 THROUGH 18-30 OF THE OMAHA MUNICIPAL CODE — WEEDS GROUP NO. 2017- 06 $28,363.00 $27,486.00 WHEREAS, the members of the City Council, sitting as a Board of Equalization and comprising a majority of all members of the City Council have received, heard and considered all complaints and objections to the proposed levies and equalized the same, and have considered the special benefits conferred by reason of the respective improvements on the various lots and land included within the proposed plans of assessment, and- being possessed of knowledge of the nature and kind of the various improvements and the benefits thereby conferred; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Equalization find and determine and it does find and determine that the special benefits to the several lots, land and real estate described in the posted notice and shown in the plans of assessment now pending, to cover the cost of the described improvements are equal respectively to the amounts shown upon said plans of assessments, which may be determined from said plans, as against the respective lots, land and real estate; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is hereby finally determined by the Board of Equalization, that the several lots, land and real estate described in the proposed plans of assessment now before the Board, have been, and each are, severally benefited by reason of the respective improvements to the extent of the full amount as shown in the plans of assessment and that such plans of assessment now show the respective amounts as finally equalized by this Board. That it be and is hereby finally determined by this Board that levies of special taxes to cover the cost of the several improvements referred to, to the extent of special benefits accruing to the various pieces of property as shown upon the said plans of assessment, be and the same hereby are ordered to be made in accordance with the approved plans of assessment against the several lots, land and real estate as shown in said plans and in the amounts therein shown and against the several descriptions therein contained respectively.
