Preston Assistant Communications Director City of Omaha Dear Ms. Preston, I am writing to you with regards to the open Board Member position for the City of Omaha, Property Maintenance Appeals Board., I currently work for Steve Andersen of Steve Andersen Electrical Contractors, Inc. who informed me about the open Board position, and I immediately became Interested in the position after learning more about what it entails. I have not been a member of any other Board previously, but I am excited about the opportunity of becoming a more involved member of my community and I believe that my skills and experience make me an excellent candidate. I have been a tenant living in an apartment for the past three years, living in two different apartment complexes in the City of Omaha. I have been fortunate enough to have been in an apartment with excellent management that quickly dealt with maintenance issues, as well as being a tenant in an apartment with continual maintenance issues where nothing ever seemed to get fixed. With being a tenant with my family and working in the electrical field that occasionally does maintenance, I can understand and appreciate both the tenant and landlord perspectives on many issues. Being an Army veteran, I have moved all across the United States and been deployed several times throughout my service tenure. From my experiences, I can say without a doubt that Omaha is truly a great place to live and raise a family. I believe what makes Omaha stand out above other cities is individual community involvement and a strong desire to have a positive impact on our community. As an individual that is reconnecting with my community after military service, I think this would be an excellent opportunity to use my skills and experience to serve my community. As I previously stated, I believe that I am an excellent candidate for the open Responsible Tenant Board Member position. I would appreciate an opportunity to meet with you to further discuss my skills and experience, as well as the Boards' needs. If you have any questions about my résumé or if you need any additional information, please feel free to contact me at (402) 699-1011. I look forward to meeting you and am truly excited about this opportunity! • Sincerely, Joseph M. Dore JOSEPH M .
