The attached Resolution will approve payment in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand
dollars ($250,000) to the Omaha Sports Commission in 2018 to support the Olympic Swim
Trials that Omaha will host in 2020.
The Olympic Swim Trials have quickly become a much loved and well-attended event in
Omaha. It is estimated that this premier national event has a $75 million economic impact on the
City of Omaha.
Funding for this project is payable in the amount of$250,000 from 2018 General Fund 11111,
Organization 119014, Account 42239.
Your favorable consideration of this funding to the Omaha Sports Commission would be
appreciated.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the Omaha Sports Commission is hosting the United States Olympic Swim Trials
in Omaha, scheduled for June 21-28, 2020 at the CHI Health Center Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, this will be the fourth time the City of Omaha has hosted this prestigious sporting
event; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Omaha will pay $250,000 in 2018 to the Omaha Sports Commission to
help fund the costs associated with hosting this premier event; and,
WHEREAS, it is estimated that this event has a $75 million economic impact on the City of
Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, funding for this project will be paid from 2018 General Fund 11111, Organization
119014, Account 42239.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Omaha to approve such payment; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends approval of such payment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the payment to the Omaha Sports Commission in the
amount of$250,000.00, paid from 2018 General Fund 11111, Organization 119014, Account 42239 is hereby
approved.
