The attached resolution is submitted at the request of Council President Terry.
The Resolution consents to the possession and consumption of beer, wine and
distilled spirits on City property during the Grand Opening Party for the
Tranquility Park ice rink on December 8 and 9, 1995.
It is not necessary to obtain a Special Designated Liquor License for this event. I�
There will be no charge for the alcohol or for admission and the party is not open
to the public. However,because the event will be held on public property, it is
necessary that the City Council expressly consent to possession and consumption
of alcohol upon that property.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Section 53-186 of the Nebraska Liquor Control Act provides that
persons may not consume alcoholic liquors upon City property without the authorization of the local
governing body; and,
WHEREAS, Section 21-14 of the Omaha Municipal Code provides that no
intoxicating liquor can be possessed or consumed on any public property area owned or operated by
the City,except in such areas as may be designated by Resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS,on.December 8 and 9. 1995, a Grand Opening Party will be held at the
Tranquility Park ice rink during which alcoholic liquor will be served without charge to invited guests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
•
THAT,the City of Omaha authorizes and consents to the possession and consumption
of alcoholic liquor on the City-owned property during the Tranquility Park ice rink Grand Opening
Party on December 8 and 9, 1995.
