The estimated construction cost is $53,500.00, which includes $20,500.00 payable by.the City for intersections and related work. The remainder, an estimated.$33,000.00, is that cost which is specially assessable and will be shared by the property owners involved in the improvement district in the form of special assessments. Based on this estimated assessment amount, the breakdown for each property is as shown on the attached. This estimated cost is based solely upon a preliminary inspection of the proposed improvement area and the utilization of historical costs of similar projects; no detailed plans and specifications have been developed, nor have bids been received. The actual cost of the construction project will be dependent upon these events after the improvement district has been formed and approved by the City Council. Should the project be-approved, Public Works will oversee the design and construction of the improvement and upon completion will develop a breakdown of costs based upon the cost of construction this specific improvement. The proposed special assessments will be identified for each property and levied subject to a public hearing before the City Council sitting as a Board of Equalization. Special assessments are payable to the County Treasurer on behalf of the City of Omaha. The billings can be spread over ten annual payments. The current interest rate on special assessments is 7 percent. This information is presented to you to assist in your consideration of the proposed improvement.
