Personnel Department labor agreement between the City of Omaha and the Fire Management Group.

Director 1994 ► 8.25 percent across-the-board increase.
1995 ► 3.5 percent across-the-board increase.
1996 ► 3 percent across-the-board increase.
1997 ► 3.5 percent across-the-board increase and
75% of any increase in the cost of living
over 5.5 percent.
In addition to the across-the board increases,the Agreement also provides for the
following significant changes:
Effective with Agreement taking effect:
1. Each employee can be submitted to random drug testing--per City policy
for all members each time any union employees are randomly tested
pursuant to new contract provision.
2. An increase in the maximum allowable accumulation of sick leave from
2,000 hours for 40-hour employees; 3,000 hours for 56 hour employees;
payoff,however, is at maximum of 1,600 hours for 40-hour employees;
2,400 hours for 56-hour employees.
3. Increase "G" step of 40-hour Assistant Chiefs an addition $887.54 per
year,

Effective December 31, 1995:
1. Settlement of the supplemental pension issue which provides for a supplemental pension for
any current or future employee,or employees who have retired on or after June 21, 1989,and
such employees or retirees would receive the lesser of a 3% or $50.00 cost of living
adjustment from and after the 37th month after retirement.
2. The parties agree to discuss HMO and pension if Social Security becomes mandatory for
sworn fire personnel.
3. Uniform allowance increased by$100.00 per year from$360.00 per year to$460.00 per year.
Effective December 20, 1996:
1. Increase in longevity pay as follows:
7-14 years $50.00/month
14-21 years $80.00/month
21 years and over $120.00/month
The funding for the 1994 portion of this contract will come from the encumbered reserved general
funds for 1994. The 1995 portion will be paid from the 1995 Wage Adjustment Account. The 1996-
97 portions of the contract will be paid from appropriately budgeted accounts.

1 AN ORDINANCE to amend Section 22-76 of the Omaha Municipal Code, entitled "Same-
2 Amount."; to provide a Supplemental Pension for police management (Class D) and fire
3 management (Class C); to repeal Section 22-76 as heretofore existing; and to provide the
4 effective date hereof
5 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA;
6 Section 1. That Section 22-76 of the Omaha Municipal code is amended to read as follows:
7 Section 22-76. Same-Amount.
8 Any member of the system after attaining the eligibility requirements
9 set forth in section 22-75 of this article shall be entitled, upon such
10 member's retirement to a monthly service retirement pension payable
11 each month for the remainder of such member's natural life after
12 retirement equal to forty (40) per cent or fifty (50) per cent
13 respectively, for the years of service as provided in section 22-75 of
14 the member's highest average monthly compensation during any
15 consecutive twelve (12)paid months during any consecutive twelve
16 (12)paid months during the member's last five(5)years of service as
17 a member of the system.
18 Effective December 20, 1995, the City agrees to provide a
19 pension supplement to all present and future employees who
20 ultimately retire from the Police and Fire Departments and for
21 all Police and Fire Department employees who retired from
22 the Departments since June, 1989. The amount of the pension
23 supplement shall be three percent(3%) or fifty ($50) dollars
24 per month per year whichever amount is less. For employees
25 covered under this Section eligibility to receive such benefit
26 will begin on the thirty-seventh(37th)month of retirement.
27 The parties agree that this new cost of living benefit is the "3
28 year wait, 3%per annum,up to $50 maximum" provision of
29 the Police-Fire Actuarial Study. That study determined that
30 the cost of this benefit was 4.4% per annum of total police
31 wages. The City agrees to pay this sum as provided below.

1 The City will create and/or contract and/or provide an
2 actuarially sound trust account to administer this benefit. The
3 actual benefit may be provided through the current Police/Fire
4 Pension Fund or the City may contract with such Fund to
5 administer the benefit. The City, the Police Management
6 employees and the Fire Management employees agree and
7 understand that by adopting this ordinance the employees
8 who are/were members of the System on or after June 21,
9 1989 waive any claim or cause of action based upon prior
10 versions of the supplement pension benefits.
11 Section 2. That Section 22-76 of the Omaha Municipal Code as heretofore existing is hereby
12 repealed.
13 Section 3. This Ordinance,not being of legislative character,and in accordance with Section
14 2.12 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Omaha, shall be in full force and take effect
15 immediately upon the date of its passage.
