WHEREAS, Sanitary and Improvement District (S.I.D.) #466 — Cattail Creek, proposed improvements
would be the addition of two (2) pickleball courts south of the existing playground; and,
WHEREAS, On August 3, 2023, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board voted for approval of the
project in the amount of $250,691.00, including construction and administrative costs with the funding source
allocated with excess cash from the bond fund and shall not become bonded debt for Douglas County SID
#466, with the conditions: See attached list; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department recommends that these
improvements be approved; and
WHEREAS, the Parks Advisory Board recommends these improvements be approved; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Park and Recreation Advisory Board, approval of the project in the
amount of $250,691.00, including construction and administrative costs with the funding source allocated
through the Bond Fund for Douglas County SID #466 — Cattail Creek, with the conditions: See attached list.

Request for Approval of Constructing two, Pickleball Courts in Cattail Creek Park

BACKGROUND:
The existing neighborhood park is west of S. 180th Avenue, between "L" and "Q" Streets. The park is approximately
29.8 acres. It has a couple of small ponds and a creek on the west side, trails, a playground with a shelter and a
parking lot off of P Street.
The SID wishes to construct two pickleball courts just south of the existing playground.
Estimated cost for the improvements is $250,691.00. This includes $71,626.00 for administration costs and
$179,065.00 for the construction. The park improvements would be funded with excess cash from the bond fund and
shall not become bonded debt for Douglas County SID#466.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Park Staff recommends approval of the two pickleball courts to Cattail Creek Park for SID 466 - Cattail Creek as
shown on drawings titled "Cattail Creek-2023 Park Improvements-SID 466- Douglas County, Nebraska", dated
March 27, 2023, Project No. P1999.027.043, Sheets 1 of 5 through 5 of 5, as prepared by E &A Consulting Group,
Inc., 10909 Mill Valley Road, Suite 100, Omaha, Nebraska 68154 with the following conditions:
(1) Make revisions to court dimensions as noted in items previously emailed to E&A Consulting. Submit revised
drawings for review prior to bidding.
(2) Chain link fence fabric shall be installed on the inside of the courts.
(3) Maximum court slope shall not exceed 1%. Regrade around court so that runoff from grass area doesn't run
across the court, but around it.
(4) SID/consultant to keep PR&PP informed on the project, reporting bidding results, construction schedule and
completion of the project.
(5) No bidding (or construction)of the project can begin until all appropriate permits are acquired. SID/Consultant
shall provide the Park Planning Staff with copies of all permits.
