(402)444-5600 The attached Resolution is submitted for your consideration. The Resolution
James N.Skinner authorizes the purchase of video surveillance cameras,personal microphones,and
Chief of Police transmitter cases from Kustom Signals, Inc. The cameras will be mounted in
(402)444-5666 marked Omaha Police vehicles. Bids were received and opened on March 13,
FAX:444-4225 1996, and have been carefully reviewed by the police administration. Kustom
Signals, Inc., is the low bidder and acceptance of their bid is recommended.
Including required heaters for the cameras, the purchase price is $3,854.00 per
camera. The equipment purchase totals $149,598.00.
These items will be paid for by the Wilson Foundation via the Peter Kiewit
Foundation. After the purchase is made, the Kiewit Foundation will reimburse
the city.
Kustom Signals, Inc., has on file a current Annual Contract Compliance Report
Form (CC-1). The Human Relations Director will monitor the Contractor to
ensure compliance with the Contract Compliance Ordinance.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:

WHEREAS,bids were received and opened on March 13, 1996 for video surveillance
cameras,together with personal microphones and transmitter cases,for use by the Police Department '
of the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, Kustom Signals, Inc., submitted the low bid for thirty-seven (37)
surveillance cameras, 200 personal microphones, and 200 transmitter cases at an aggregate cost of
$149,598.00; and,
WHEREAS,the bids have been reviewed by Deputy Police Chief J.Martin Crowley
and Jim Skinner,Chief of the Police Department, who recommend acceptance of the bid of Kustom
Signals,Inc.; and,
WHEREAS,these items will be paid for by the Wilson Foundation through the Peter
Kiewit Foundation which will reimburse the City after the purchase is made and the cameras are
installed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT,the bid of Kustom Signals,Inc., in the aggregate amount of$149,598.00,be
approved as the lowest and best bid and the purchasing agent is directed to issue a purchase order
in such amount, said funds to be paid from the Miscellaneous Contributions Trust Fund,Fund 106,
Agency 195, Organization 2322.
