The purpose of the attached Resolution is to approve the request of Metro Area Transit for the
placement of two (2)new bus shelters and for the upgrading of two (2)existing locations from non-
advertising to advertising status.
Each of the locations has been favorably reviewed by the Planning Department for compliance with
Section 3'-99(g)of the Omaha Municipal Code which prohibits the placement of advertising abutting
zoning districts AG, DR, R1-R7 and MH. The Public Works Department has also reviewed and
approved the new locations.
Metro Area Transit will need to provide the City with a rental payment in the amount of$75.00 per
location for each location approved for advertising and $25.00 per location approved without
advertising.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Omaha Municipal Code Section 3-90 et seq. the City of
Omaha has authorized Metro Area Transit ( MAT) to place and maintain bus shelters on public
property at locations where buses stop on a regularly scheduled basis; and,
•
WHEREAS, MAT has previously placed bus shelters at several locations in the City
of Omaha ; and,
WHEREAS,MAT has requested that the status of two of these existing shelters, in
the attached Exhibit "A", which is hereby incorporated by reference, be upgraded from non-
advertising to advertising;and,
WHEREAS, MAT desires to add two (2) new bus shelters at the locations on the
attached Exhibit"A",which is hereby incorporated by reference; and,
WHEREAS, Section 3-100 of the Omaha Municipal Code requires MAT to obtain
approval of the placement of new shelter locations; and,
WHEREAS,the Planning and Public Works Departments have reviewed each of the
additional locations and noted compliance with Section 3-99 (g) of the Omaha Municipal Code; and,
WHEREAS,MAT has agreed to provide the rental payment of$75.00 per locations
approved for advertising and$25.00 per locations approved for non-advertising by the City Council;
and,
•
WHEREAS,it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Omaha to approve
such new locations and changes I designation; and,
WHEREAS,the Mayor recommends approval of such new locations and changes in
designation from non-advertising to advertising status.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the changes in designation from non-
advertising to advertising status of two (2)bus shelter locations and the addition of two (2)new bus
shelter locations listed in the attached Exhibit"A"are hereby approved.
