The purpose of the attached Resolution is to suspend the Levi Carter Park closing hours from August
6, 1997 to August 10, 1997,to accommodate a summer music festival presented by the Event Group
Company.
Your approval to suspend the curfew at Levi Carter Park between 5:00 a.m. on August 6, 1997 and
5:00 a.m. on August 10, 1997,to accommodate the preparation and clean-up for this event,therefore
is requested. It is anticipated that the event will conclude at approximately 9 p.m., on August 9,
1997.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS,pursuant to the provisions of the Omaha Municipal Code,the Director
of the Parks,Recreation and Public Property Department established rules regulating the use of parks
within the city,which were then approved by Resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS,one such rule established the hours during which Levi Carter Park would
be closed from 11:00 p.m.to 5:00 a.m.; and,
WHEREAS,the Event Group Company would like to conduct.a music festival event
in Levi Carter Park on August 9, 1997; and,
WHEREAS,said organization has requested that the park closing hours be suspended
between the hours of 5:00 a.m. on August 6, 1997 and 5:00 a.m. on August '10, 1997, to
accommodate the set-up,equipment security and clean-up for this scheduled event; and,
WHEREAS,the Director of the Parks,Recreation and Public Property Department
has approved the suspension of the park closing hours on those days only for this event; and,
WHEREAS,to be effective such a suspension must be approved by this Council; and,
WHEREAS,the Mayor has recommended approval of this request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, between 5:00 a.m. on August 6, 1997 and
5:00 a.m. on August 10, 1997, and on those dates only,Levi Carter Park's closing hours shall be
suspended to accommodate the set-up for a summer music festival scheduled by The Event Group
Company.
