The attached resolutions, prepared at the request of the Mayor, authorize support for legislation
which may be introduced in the Second Session of the Ninety Fifth Legislature of the State of
Nebraska to(1)permit the citizens of Omaha,through a vote,to approve and decide the method and
means of financing the design and construction of an Omaha Entertainment Center which would
include, among other amenities, a convention center and arena complex, and(2)provide the means
for the citizens of Omaha to merge governmental services with any other existing governmental
entity.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS,on the 7th day of January, 1998,the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the State
of Nebraska, Second Session,will convene; and
WHEREAS, the development of our City's image, tourism, and jobs-creating
economic growth is important to sustaining the livability and quality of life for the people of the City
of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS,the competitive future of the City of Omaha requires bold and forward
capital projects to advance the interest of all of our citizens and the State of Nebraska; and,
WHEREAS,legislation may be introduced in the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the State
of Nebraska,relating to methods of providing for the financing of the design and construction of an
Omaha Entertainment Complex; and,
WHEREAS,it is in the best interest of the City of Omaha and its residents to support
such legislation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT,the Omaha City Council hereby expresses its support for legislation which may
be introduced in the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the State of Nebraska, Second Session, which would
allow the citizens of the City of Omaha,by a vote of the people,to approve and decide the method
and means of fmancing the design and the construction of an Omaha Entertainment Center which
would include, among other things,a convention center and arena complex.
