Transmitted herewith is a Bid Tabulation and a Resolution authorizing the Purchasing Agent to issue
a Purchase Order to Aksarben Roofing on the bid for installation of vents, fiberglass reinforced
plastic panels and all accessories for the roughing towers in the secondary complex at the Missouri
River Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The following bids were received on January 14, 1998.

A copy of the bid documents is on file and available for inspection and review in the City Clerk's
Office.
The contractor has on file a current Annual Contract Compliance Report Form(CC-1). As is City
policy, the Human Relations Director will review the contractor to ensure compliance with the
Contract Compliance Ordinance.
The Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of installation of vents, fiberglass reinforced
plastic panels and all accessories for the roughing towers in the secondary complex at the Missouri
River Wastewater Treatment Plant from the Sanitary Sewer Improvement Organization 1485,
Sanitary Sewer Improvement Fund 544.
The Public Works Department recommends the acceptance of the bid from Aksarben Roofing, in
the amount of$117,228.00,being the lowest and best bid received, and requests your consideration
and approval of this Resolution.

an amount not less than$300,000 for injuries including accidental
death to any person and subject to the same limit for each person

insurance in an amount not less than$300,000, and the City of
Omaha as an additional insured.

SPECIFICATION FOR INSTALLATION OF MUSHROOM VENTS
ROUGHING FILTER
MISSOURI RIVER WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
NOVEMBER 1997
PART 1 —GENERAL
The successful bidder shall furnish submittal data, materials, equipment, and labor
necessary to install mushroom vents, fiberglass reinforced plastic,panels(FRP) and all
accessories for the roughing towers in the secondary complex. All work shall be at the
following address:

Omaha,NE 68107
Refer to attached drawing sheets for plans, sections, and details. Bidders shall be
responsible for field verifying all quantities and dimensions prior to bidding.
1.1 SCOPE
A. Provide 44 mushroom vents.
B. Provide fiberglass reinforced plastic panels capable of covering 12
openings that are 92 feet long by 6'-10"wide, including fasteners.
C. Remove existing and provide new treated wood nailers.
D. Provide flashing.
1.2 SUBMITTALS
Contractor shall submit the following prior to procurement and installation:
• Manufacturer's literature of descriptive and/or performance data for vents,
panels,treated wood nailers and flashing including standard drawings
showing components and dimensional data, louver-free area, and materials of
construction with ASTM designation.
• Manufacturer's recommendations for delivery, storage, and handling.
• Shop drawings for vents, panels,treated wood nailers, and flashing depicting
details, anchorage, and relationship to adjoining structure.
• Sample of manufacturer's standard finishes.

• Three copies of Operation and Maintenance(O&M) Manual including
sections for the mushroom vents, fiberglass reinforced plastic panels,treated
wood nailers, flashing, and as-built drawings.
1.3 CONTRACT TIME
All items within the scope of this project shall be delivered to Owner within 45
calendar days from receipt of purchase order number from the City unless
otherwise agreed upon in writing with the Owner.
1.4 WARRANTY •
Contractor shall supply one year warranty on all materials and equipment.

PART 2—MATERIALS
2.1 FIXED MUSHROOM VENTS
A. Number and Size: Forty-four 30-inch diameter vents (5.03 square feet
minimum throat area).
B. Heavy gauge spun aluminum mushroom style vent with removable
aluminum cover separate from shroud.
C. One piece high rise aluminum curb.
D. Aluminum bird screen 90 percent free area.
E. Finish: Manufacturer's matte finish; glare-resistant.
F. Manufacturer or Model: Greenheck Model GRS-30, or equal.
2.2 FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC PANELS (FRP)
A. Number and Size: Panels to cover 12 openings that are 92 feet long by 6'-
' 10"wide each.
B. FRP panels shall be translucent or opaque, corrosion resistant to hydrogen
sulfide attack and fire retardant.
• C. FRP panels shall withstand a minimum loading of 40 pounds per square
foot.
D. Glass reinforcement shall be composed of bi-directional continuous strand
woven and chopped strand glass.
E. Resin shall be high quality isophthalic,neopentyl glycol, halogenated
polyester with acrylic modification and UV stabilizers.
F. FRP panels shall be manufactured to provide openings for the mushroom
vents.
G. Finish: Manufacturer's matte finish, glare resistant.
H. Manufacturer or Model: Resolite Tred-Safe Series,profile 7.2 x 1.5"or
7.2D x 1.75"or equal.
2.3 FLASHING
A. Flashing shall be felt or aluminum, as shown on the drawings.
B. Flashing shall be fastened a maximum of 12 inches on-center.
2.4 ACCESSORIES .
A. Use similar metals for all attachments.
B. Isolation tape shall be Tremco 440, 3M EC 1202, or Presstite 579.6.
PART 3—EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Assure that openings are free of irregularities that would interfere with
installation.
B. Do not install vents until defects have been corrected.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install vents, panels,treated wood nailers, and flashing as shown on
reviewed Shop Drawings.
B. Follow procedures in manufacturer's recommended installation
instructions.
C. Separate aluminum from other metals with isolation tape or paint.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
