Attached for your consideration is a Resolution appointing F. A. Ketterson, Jr. to the Landmarks
Heritage Preservation Commission to serve a three (3) year term. Mr. Ketterson's position on the
Landmarks Heritage Preservation Commission fulfills the requirement for representation as one of
two laypersons.
Mr. Ketterson is partner in Ketterson's Old Market Bookstore, currently relocating in the Old

Preservation Commission; Chairman, June 1996—August 1997.
April 1983 —Present—Partner,Kettersons' Old Market Bookstore. The
Landmarks Heritage Preservation ordinance states one commission
member should be an owner of a business or property located within a
Landmarks Heritage Preservation district.
October 1995 —January 1997—Manager, Stewardship and Partnerships
Team,National Park Service, Great Plains Cluster, Omaha,Nebraska.
Duties included historic preservation activities both in the National Park
System and with state, local, and private partners.
March 1980—October 1995 —Chief,Division of Cultural Resources
Management,National Park Service,Midwest Region, Omaha,
Nebraska. In this capacity, managed historic preservation and historical
research programs for 33 units of the National Park System in 10
Midwestern states.
January 1977—March 1980—Regional Historian,National Park Service,
Midwest Region, Omaha,Nebraska. The Landmarks Heritage
Preservation ordinance identifies a historian as one of the professions
needed for the commission.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS,with the expiration of the term of Harry B. Otis on January 10, 1998, a
vacancy exists on the Landmarks Heritage Preservation Commission; and, .:
WHEREAS, Sections 24-26 of the Omaha Municipal Code, provides for the
appointment to the Landmarks Heritage Preservation Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. F.A. Ketterson,Jr., is a partner of Ketterson's Old Market Book
Store previously located at the corner of 12th&Howard, and has served on the Landmarks Heritage
Preservation Commission;and,
WHEREAS,Mayor Hal Daub has appointed F. A. Ketterson,Jr.,to the Landmarks
Heritage Preservation Commission as one of two laypersons, to serve a term of three (3) years,
commencing on the date of confirmation by the City Council and expiring three years thereafter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the appointment by Mayor Hal Daub of F. A. Ketterson,Jr., as a member
of the Landmark Heritage Preservation Commission representing one of two laypersons,commencing
upon confirmation by the City Council and expiring three years thereafter,is hereby confirmed.
