The Law Department shall select the appropriate wording for the resolution. The legislative document will become the formal acceptance of this donated van. The Law Department shall coordinate with the City Clerk to ensure that this resolution appears on the April 28, 1998, City Council agenda. 1 INFORMATION ATTACHED: YES NO X NONE AVAILABLE wk c: Councilmembers, City Clerk, Don Elliott-Public Works Director, Brinker Harding- Mayor's Office, Council Staff '-'C -25A CITY OF OMAHA LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebr 19 RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: WHEREAS, Graffiti on public and private property is a blighting factor upon the entire community; and, WHEREAS,the City Council has determined that it is appropriate to provide for the removal of graffiti from both public and private property and seeks a method to assist the community in this effort; and, WHEREAS the City Council has determined that a Graffiti Van would be an effective tool in fighting this battle; and, WHEREAS,Omaha Neighborhood Courage Inc.,a nonprofit corporation, was the driving force behind the campaign to solicit donations throughout the community and raise the necessary funds to purchase the Graffiti Van for the City of Omaha; and, WHEREAS,the cooperative efforts of the Kiewit Foundation,KMTV and the local Coca Cola Bottler along with Omaha Neighborhood Courage Inc.in obtaining the Graffiti Van should be recognized; and, WHEREAS,Omaha Neighborhood Courage Inc. now wishes to donate the Graffiti Van to the City of Omaha to be used in the fight against graffiti; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the residents of the City of Omaha that such donation be accepted. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, the City of Omaha,with approval of both the Mayor and the City Council, hereby accepts the donation of the Graffiti Van from Omaha Neighborhood Courage Inc.; and, By Councilmember Adopted City Clerk Approved Mayor - • 2:5A - CITY OF OMAHA • . .
