The Law Department shall coordinate with the City Clerk by Thursday, June 18, 1998, mid-day, to provide a brief backing that allows the Council Agenda to be published later Thursday. City Prosecutor Marty Conboy is familiar with Mr. Dunning, this request and Mr. Dunning's accomplishments, and is already compiling a list of items to be included in the Resolution. Council Staff will forward additional background information later, when available, or the Law Department can contact Sharon Miller, Prosecutors Office, for details. INFORMATION ATTACHED: YES NO X NONE AVAILABLE rm c: Councilmembers, City Clerk, Marty Conboy & Sharon Miller (Prosecutor' s Office) , Brinker Harding, Council Staff C___--- _ C 25A CITY OF OMAHA LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebr 19 RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: WHEREAS,on the occasion of his retirement,June 26, 1998, Mayor Hal Daub and the City Council on behalf of themselves and the citizens of Omaha wish to recognize and honor the service and dedication of Richard Dunning; and, WHEREAS, Richard Dunning has been employed with the City of Omaha since November 24, 1964, and has served as a Deputy City Prosecutor since 1970; and, WHEREAS, during his 34 years of service to the City of Omaha as Deputy City Prosecutor he has handled a variety of matters concerning the Permits and Inspections Division of the Planning Department,the Fire Department and the Nebraska Humane Society,along with citizen disputes,jury trials and appeals before the Douglas County District Court,Nebraska Supreme Court and Federal Court; and, WHEREAS, during his years with the City Prosecutor's Office he has monitored legislation concerning gambling and alcohol, provided numerous written opinions to the Douglas County Court and the Omaha Police Department, he also reviewed and filed criminal and traffic offenses, and child abuse/neglect cases; and, WHEREAS, he has been married to Mary Ann Dunning for 33 years and they have 5 children and 11 grandchildren; and, WHEREAS,he is looking forward to visiting his grandchildren and having more time to devote to the things he enjoys such as reading, yard work and performing in the St. Elizabeth Ann/St.James Annual Melodrama/Musical.
