1 AN ORDINANCE to amend Section 23-383 of the Omaha Municipal Code, entitled "Tuition
2 reimbursement.";to provide that the City will issue a Personnel Policy which shall authorize
3 Departments to pay job related tuition reimbursement to Administrative and Executive
4 (A&E) employees; and, to provide the effective date hereof.
5 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
6 Section 1. That Section 23-383 of the Omaha Municipal Code is created to read as follows:
7 Sec. 23-383. Tuition reimbursement.
8 The City of Omaha will issue a Personnel Policy which shall
9 authorize Departments, in the discretion of the operating department,
10 to pay job related tuition reimbursement to its employees according
11 to certain criteria. Generally, those criteria shall be:
12 1. Employee must provide evidence at time of registration;
13 2. Employee must get a grade of "C" or better in order for
14 reimbursement;
15 3. Courses must be job related,or required for a degree which is
16 job related;
17 4. Tuition reimbursement is limited to the gross amount set forth
18 by Department Directors in their budget and shall be paid at
19 50% of actual tuition.
20 Section 2. That Section 23-383 of the Omaha Municipal Code as heretofore existing is
21 hereby created.

1 Section 3. This Ordinance,not being of legislative character,and in accordance with Section
2 2.12 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Omaha, shall be in full force and take effect
3 immediately upon the date of its passage.
