CI n) and Members of the City Council, y co The purpose of the attached Ordinance, prepared at the request of the Douglas County Health Department, is to revise Section 54-129 of the Omaha Municipal Code relating to swimming pools, to reflect changes on the state and national level. This ordinance will allow Non-Class A indoor commercial pools to submit plans for decks which are less than eight (8) feet wide subject to the approval from both the state and local health department jurisdictions based on the current 10-State Standards. That Section 54-129 of the Omaha Municipal Code is hereby amended to read 9 as follows: 10 Sec. 54-129. Walks and decks. 11 (a) Walks or decks shall be continuous around the pool with 12 a minimum width of eight feet,including any curb at the pool edge. 13 Non-Class A indoor commercial pools may elect to submit plans for 14 decks which are less than eight-feet wide. Approval for such decks 15 shall be contingent upon approval from both the State and Local 16 ,Health department jurisdictions and based on the current 10-State 17 Standards. 18 (b) A minimum of a three-foot walk or deck width shall be 19 provided on the sides and rear of any piece of diving equipment. 20 (c) All walks,decks,and terraces shall have a minimum slope 21 of one-fourth inch per foot to points of disposal. Where skimmers are 22 used, the walks, decks, and terraces shall not slope to the pool. The • 23 point of disposal shall be such that the waste water does not adversely 24 affect the pool water quality nor does it create a nuisance or sanitary 25 hazard around the pool perimeter. 26 (d) The finished texture of walks or decks shall be non-slip 27 and such that there will be no discomfort to bare feet. Walks and 28 decks shall be maintained in a manner to prevent safety hazards. 29 Irregularities in decks due to cracking or heaving in excess of one- 7 ORDINANCE NO. 3 Y5$3 PAGE 2 1 fourth inch shall be repaired. All walks and decks shall be washed 2 and cleaned at least once a day, and otherwise maintained in a clean 3 and sanitary condition. 4 (e) Hose bibbs shall be provided around the perimeter of the 5 pool enclosure at intervals such that all walks,decks and terraces may 6 be reached with a 50-foot hose. 7 Section 2. That Section 54-129 of the Omaha Municipal Code as heretofore existing is 8 hereby repealed. 9 Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and take effect fifteen days from and after 10 its date of passage.
