The attached Resolution approves the issuance of a purchase order number to the Metropolitan
Utilities District in the amount of $392,000.00. This purchase order will allow the Metropolitan
Utilities District to abandon existing water and gas lines in Davenport Street between 12th and 14th
Streets and install new water and gas lines on the northern edge of their redevelopment area for the
Omaha World Herald Redevelopment Project. This work is in accordance with the Redevelopment
Agreement that was approved by the City Council on February 9, 1999. The City of Omaha shall
issue Redevelopment Bonds in the near future to pay for the cost of the above-stated work activity.
The Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of this water and gas main work from the
Omaha World Herald Redevelopment Project, Fund Number 358. The estimated cost of this work
is $392,000.00. The work to be performed and the associated costs are described in the attached
letter from the Metropolitan Utilities District.
The Planning and Finance Departments recommend the issuance of a Purchase Order to the
Metropolitan Utilities District in the amount of$392,000.00 for water and gas main abandonment
and relocation work for the Omaha World Herald Redevelopment Project, and requests your
consideration and approval of this Resolution.

RE: Water and gas main abandonment/construction for Omaha World-Herald
Redevelopment Project
Mr. Peterson:
To accommodate the proposed redevelopment project,the District will perform the
following work:
1. Abandon, in place, existing cast iron water and gas mains and appurtenances as
needed for project. These mains are located primarily in Davenport Street
between 12th Street and 14th Street.
2. Install 1100'+ of new 16" ductile iron water main from approximately 14th and
Chicago Street to 12th Street and Davenport Street.
3. Take main temporarily out of service in 14th Street between Chicago Street and
Davenport Street.
4. Miscellaneous hydrant and valve work.
5. Install 1100'± of 16" 60# steel gas main from approximately 14th Street and
Chicago Street to 12th Street and Davenport Street.
6. Install 300' of 4" 15#plastic gas main in 12th Street from Capitol Avenue to
Davenport Street.
7. Install regulator station at 12th and Davenport Street
8. Other appurtenances as the District deem necessary.
Preliminary construction plans for this work will be sent when completed.
The total estimated cost for all work is $392,000.00. The project will be billed on a time
and material basis. The City of Omaha will be billed for the actual cost of this work.

Before this work can be released for construction, a copy of a purchase order for the
estimated amount from the City of Omaha will need to be submitted and any easements

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS,it is necessary to abandon existing water and gas mains and install new
water and gas mains for the Omaha World Herald Redevelopment Project; and,
WHEREAS, the financial responsibility to accomplish this work lies with the City
of Omaha in accordance with the terms of the Redevelopment Agreement; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to undertake this work to successfully complete the
Redevelopment Project.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE TT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, the Finance Department be authorized to issue a Purchase Order to the
Metropolitan Utilities District for water and gas main work for the Omaha World Herald
Redevelopment Project in the estimated amount of$392,000.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT,the Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of the Purchase Order
to the Metropolitan Utilities District for water and gas main work for the Omaha World Herald
Redevelopment Project in the estimated amount of$392,000.00 from the Omaha World Herald
Redevelopment Project, Fund No. 358, Agency 140, Organization 1514, Activity 5527.
