Present Chief Engineer June, 1987 to Present
Manage and supervise hearing,air conditioning, and engineering problems at Kiewit
Plaza. Supervise all maintenance and repair operations performed by Plaza Building
personnel or subcontractors and assist Omaha Building District personnel with
maintenance and repair operations.
Responsibilities include; insuring proper operation and repair of miscellaneous
equipment such as energy management system, fire detection system,security and
surveillance equipment,and food service equipment. Monitor elevator problems and
report to elevator maintenance company.
Purchase parts and supplies for heating,air conditioning,plumbing,and general
maintenance;make recommendations for the purchase of new equipment;maintain
inventory of engineering tools and supplies.
Perform utility usage analysis to determine proper operation of heating and cooling
systems.
Duties also including; insuring proper operation of AT&T telephone system and handling
all programming and installation associated with telephone systems. Run monthly
computerized reports on Call Accounting System and distribute to proper departments.
Schedule and supervise five licensed engineers.
Assistant Chief Engineer February, 1979 to June, 1987
Performed essentially the same duties as listed above with lesser responsibility. Duties
also included all water treatment programs and the handling of chemicals, directing
safety and training programs, and conducting weekly tool box meetings.
Hired as Operating Engineer;advanced to Chief Engineer.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS,there now exist a vacancy on the Stationary Engineers Examiners Board
due to the expired term of Alan W. Butler; and,
WHEREAS, Sections 40-167, Division 2, Article III, Chapter 40 of the Omaha
Municipal Code,provides for the appointment of members to the Stationary Engineers Examiners
Board; and,
WHEREAS, The Honorable Hal Daub has reappointed Alan W. Butler to serve on
the Stationary Engineers Examiners Board, said term commencing upon confirmation by the City
Council and expiring two years thereafter.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, the reappointment by The Honorable Hal Daub of Alan W. Butler as a
member of the Stationary Engineers Examiners Board, said term commencing upon confirmation
by the City Council and expiring two years thereafter, is hereby confirmed.
