The purpose of the attached Resolution is to authorize the City to apply for federal assistance under
the National Recreation Trail program. Should a grant be approved,the City agrees to fund 20% of
all costs associated with the 144th Street Greenway-Autumn Heights to Lindenwood Segment.
For this trail, the City of Omaha will provide planning, design, construction and management
services consistent with previous other trail developments.
This proposed trail section will connect existing portions of the 144th Street Trail. The connector
will begin at the current Corby Street terminus and extend approximately 0.85 miles to the Hamilton
Street terminus.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the City has constructed portions of the 144th Street Trail, Keystone
Trail, the Big Papio Trail and the West Papio Trail;and,
WHEREAS, the City owns property known as 144th Street Corridor, a portion of
which having been planned for a connecting trail between Lindenwood and Autumn Heights
Subdivisions; and,
WHEREAS, the City wishes to jointly develop said property into a recreational
facility in the nature of a linear trail corridor to be known as the 144th Street Greenway-Autumn
Heights and Lindenwood Segment; and,
WHEREAS, the City has provided planning, design, construction and management
services for previous trail developments and has agreed to provide these services for this extension
of the trail facility; and,
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Omaha that the Department of Parks,
Recreation and Public Property submit an application for financial assistance to the National
Recreation Trails Program; and,
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to provide the 20% required match for this project,
estimated to be$50,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, approval of this grant application is in the best interest of the citizens of
the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS,the Mayor has recommended approval of the grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department, is authorized to apply for a grant from the National Recreation Trails Program for the
development of a recreational facility in the nature of a linear trail corridor to be known as the
144th Street Greenway-Autumn Heights and Lindenwood Segment. The City is further authorized
to provide the required grant match of 20%. The Finance Department is authorized to pay an
amount estimated at $50,000.00 from General Fund No. 001, Agency No. 120, Organization No.
1220, from Park Maintenance Park Development line item (Annexation), and to anticipate
reimbursement from the National Recreation Trail program, in an amount to be determined by the
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
