Honorable President
and Members of the City Council,
Transmitted herewith is a Resolution approving the proposed schedule for separating combined
sewers. These sewers carry both sanitary and stormwater runoff. As is customary, planned
sewer separations are detailed in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The next CIP will
include plans to complete the sewer separation projects by the end of the year 2007. This
replaces the current plan to complete the projects by 2011.
The necessary spending in order to complete this schedule is:
Year 2000 $6,000,000 Year 2004 $8,000,000 .
Year 2001 $7,000,000 Year 2005 $9,000,000
Year 2002 $7,000,000 Year 2006 $9,000,000
Year 2003 $7,000,000 Year 2007 $8,000,000
The next CIP will identify specific funding sources in order to accomplish the goal.
The Mayor and the Public Works Department request your consideration and approval of the
attached Resolution.

I hereby move that Council Document No. , Current Series, be amended as
follows:
Delete the last paragraph of the resolution reading "THAT, the recommended
schedule of expenditures be included in the Capital Improvement Program to
separate combined sewers by the end of the year 2007.", and insert in lieu thereof
the language "THAT, the attached recommended schedule of expenditures for the
City of Omaha-Combined Sewer Separation Accelerated CIP is incorporated in
this resolution and shall be included in the Capital Improvement Program to
separate combined sewers by the end of the year 2007 and that the City Council
be notified in the event of changes to this schedule prior to implementation of
those changes.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the goal for separating combined sewers which carry both sanitary'
and stormwater runoff is established in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP); and;
WHEREAS, the next CIP will include plans to complete the sewer separations by
the end of the year 2007 and will identify funding sources to meet that goal; and,
WHEREAS, the current CIP which covers the years 2000 through 2005 will have
to be adjusted in order to complete this goal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the attached recommended schedule of expenditures for the City of
Omaha-Combined Sewer Separation Accelerated CIP is incorporated in this resolution and shall
