WHEREAS, Sanitary and Improvement District (S.I.D.) #405 — Deer Creek Park South, proposed
improvements would construct an 18 car parking lot, a playground, a full-size basketball court, a picnic
shelter, four pickleball courts and additional tree plantings; and,
WHEREAS, On February 2, 2023, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board voted for approval of the
project in the amount of $1,125,607.77, including construction and administrative costs with the funding
source allocated with excess cash from the bond fund and shall not become bonded debt for Douglas County
SID #405, with the conditions: See attached list; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department recommends that these
improvements be approved; and
WHEREAS, the Parks Advisory Board recommends these improvements be approved; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Park and Recreation Advisory Board, approval of the project in the
amount of $1,125,607.77, including construction and administrative costs with the funding source allocated
through the Bond Fund for Douglas County SID #405 — Deer Creek Park South, with the conditions: See
attached list.

BACKGROUND:
The existing neighborhood park is located on the north side of Military Road in the Deer Creek subdivision. The park
is approximately 6.5 acres in size. There is a pond and concrete walking paths in the park. There are no other park
improvements at this time. The applicant is looking at constructing an 18 car parking lot, a playground, a full-size
basketball court, a picnic shelter,four pickleball courts and additional tree plantings.
Estimated cost for the improvements is $1,125,607.77. This includes $232,268.27 for administration costs and
$893,339.50 for the construction. The park improvements would be funded with excess cash from the bond fund and
shall not become bonded debt for Douglas County SID#405.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Park Staff recommends approval of the park improvements to Deer Creek Park South for SID 405 — Deer Creek as
shown on drawings titled "Deer Creek — 2023 Park Improvements — SID 405 — Douglas County, Nebraska", dated
January 19, 2023, Project No. P2008.276.010, Sheets 1 of 14 through 14 of 14, as prepared by E & A Consulting
Group, Inc., 10909 Mill Valley Road, Suite 100, Omaha, Nebraska 68154 with the following conditions:
(1) SID/consultant to keep PR&PP informed on the project, reporting bidding results, construction schedule and
completion of the project.
(2) No bidding (or construction)of the project can begin until all appropriate permits are acquired. SID/Consultant
shall provide the Park Planning Staff with copies of all permits.

Park Improvements on the February 2,2023 Park Advisory Board meeting. These improvements
to the existing park include adding a playground with a 5-12 play structure and a 2-5 play
structure along with other playground features. A basketball court,pickleball court, picnic shelter
and parking lot. These additions will be installed within the existing South park area of the
neighborhood.
These 2023 Park Improvements will be funded with excess cash from the bond fund and shall not
become bonded debt for Douglas County SID#405.
