David L. Sokol, 44,is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MidAmerican Energy
Holdings Company.
In February 1991, Sokol joined the Company as Chairman,President and Chief
Executive Officer. At that time the Company owned and operated one geothermal power
project, which it had developed and constructed. Today, the Company has grown into a
thriving worldwide energy services provider, Through its retail utility subsidiaries,
MidAmerican Energy in the U.S. and Northern Electric in the U.K., the Company
provides electric service to 2.0 million customers and natural gas service to 1.2 million
customers worldwide, Through CalEnergy, the Company's independent power
production and non-regulated business subsidiaries and MidAmerican Energy's utility
operations,MidAmerican manages and owns interests in approximately 9,700 net
megawatts of diversified power generation facilities in operation, construction,
development and under contract,
Sokol earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of
Nebraska at Omaha in 1978, and holds an honorary doctorate degree from Bellevue
University, Bellevue,Nebraska. Additionally, Sokol is a member of the Nebraska
Society and the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers.
Sokol is co-chairman for Campaign Nebraska for the University of Nebraska Foundation;
Chairman of the Metropolitan Omaha Convention, Sports and Entertainment Authority;
Chairman of the Board of Governors,Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben; Chairman of the Omaha
Airport Authority; and a member of the Creighton University Board of Directors.
In addition, Sokol's community service includes board memberships, as well as
participation and support of many philanthropic efforts including: College World Series
of Omaha,Inc.; Strategic Command Consultation Committee; River City Roundup and
Rodeo; Joslyn Art Museum; Nebraska Easter Seal Society; Mount Michael Abbey High
School;Archdiocese of Omaha; Girls, Inc.; Mid-American Council,Boy Scouts of
America; and United Way of the Midlands.
Sokol enjoys playing hockey, hunting, fishing, running, and horseback riding. The
Sokols have a daughter, Kelly, who recently graduated from Wake Forest University.

David Sokol is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of California Energy
Company, Inc. Headquartered in Omaha,Nebraska, California Energy Company is the
largest independent geothermal power producer in the world.
Mr. Sokol's experience in the independent energy industry includes past service as Chief
Executive Officer of Kiewit Energy Company and Chief Executive Officer of Ogden
Projects, Inc.
His accomplishments have been chronicled in major publications such as Business Week,
Forbes, Crain's New York Business Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. He was
awarded a Lifetime Membership with Omicron Delta Kappa honorary from the University
of Nebraska.
Mr. Sokol's community service includes board memberships with Omaha's Joslyn Art
Museum, the Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America,the Omaha Chamber of
Commerce,the University of Nebraska at Omaha Alumni Association,United Way/CHAD,
the STRATCOM Consultation Committee, River City Roundup and Rodeo, the Knights of
Ak-Sar-Ben, and participation and support of many other philanthropic efforts.
Mr. Sokol has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska. He and his
wife Peggy have two children: Kelly, age 17, and David Jr.,"D.J.,"age 14.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the appointment of David L. Sokol on the Omaha Airport Authority
Board, will expire on March 4, 2001, thereby creating a vacancy on the Omaha Airport Authority
Board; and,
WHEREAS, Sections 3-503, Revised Statutes of Nebraska 1943" as amended,
provides for the appointment to said agency; and,
WHEREAS, the Honorable Hal Daub has re-appointed David L. Sokol to the
Omaha Airport Authority Board, said term to commence on the date of confirmation by the City
Council and to expire five years thereafter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the re-appointment by the Honorable Hal Daub of David L. Sokol as a
member of the Omaha Airport Authority Board; commencing on the date of confirmation by the
