The match will begin during regular facility hours on the day of February 24, 2001, continue through the night and conclude by 8:00 a.m. on February 25, 2001. Code, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department established rules regulating the use of parks within the city which were then approved by Resolution of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, one such rule established the hours during which most city parks be closed as 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., which rule was approved by the City Council by Resolution; and, WHEREAS, Hanscom Tennis Center is located within Hanscom Park;and, WHEREAS, Team Iowa and the Nebraska Training Center Team will be conducting an intersectional tennis match at the Hanscom Tennis Center which will continue throughout the night of February 24, 2001; and, WHEREAS, said organizations have requested that the Hanscom Tennis Center closing hours be suspended between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on February 24, 2001 and 5:00 a.m. on February 25, 2001 to accommodate the scheduled event; and; WHEREAS, the Director of Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department has approved the suspension of the park closing hours; and, WHEREAS, to be effective such a suspension must be approved by this Council; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended approval of this request. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, between 11:00 p.m. on February 24, 2001 and 5:00 a.m.. on February 25, 2001, and on that date only, the park closing hours shall be suspended in Hanscom Park to accommodate an event between the Team Iowa and the Nebraska Training Center Team in the Hanscom Tennis Center.
