RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, on December 14, 2001, Dr. Jerald Schenken passed from this life in
Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 68; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Schenken was committed to his family, devoted to his wife and
children,involved in his community and active in the medical profession; and,
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Charlotte and his sons, John II, Parker
and daughter,Elizabeth Schenken Grey, their spouses and his five grandchildren; and, '
WHEREAS, he was a faculty member of the University of Nebraska Medical
Center since 1957 and was nationally recognized for his work in pathology; and,
WHEREAS, he became president of the Pathology Center in 1981 and held that
position until 1996; and,
WHEREAS, he unselfishly offered time to Nebraska politics, including a
candidacy for Congress in 1988 and served as Nebraska Republican Party Chairman; and,
WHEREAS, his City owes him a debt of gratitude for his many contributions to
the betterment of its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, this council will be in session during his funeral and internment and
find it fitting and proper to publicly recognize this extraordinary citizen of Omaha.
NOW BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, that Mayor Fahey and the City Council, on behalf of themselves and the
citizens of Omaha, do hereby honor the memory and life of Dr. Jerald Schenken this 18th day of
December 2001.
