Dear Mr. Brown:
Subject:4226 North 16th Street, Omaha, Ne. 68111
I would like to address the Violation or Corrective Action Notice received regarding the above
mentioned property. The notice states that an appeal can be made within fifteen days, although I am
not appealing your decision, I am asking for an extension in time to complete the necessary tasks and
avoid demolishing the structure. I have listed below the tasks to be completed and the time line of each.
I ask for your consideration of this proposal and the allowance of the extended time.
Building Exterior
• Windows-Seal all casements to be weather tight. Completion date August 17-19, 2002.
• Doors - Install new screen door with hardware and weather stripping on South end of
dwelling. Install new door trim and threshold with hardware and weather stripping on East
side of dwelling. Completion date August 20-22,2002.
• Roof- Repair and replace deteriorated gutters and downspouts. Completion date August
20-22,2002.
• Paint-The exterior will be painted. Completion date August 23-24, 2002.
Throughout Dwelling
• Windows -Replace all torn and missing window screens. Completion date August 17-19,
2002.

Condemnation hearings were held on:
August 31, 2000—Owner appeared
February 1, 2001 —Owner appeared.
April 5, 2001 —Owner appeared. The property was laid over on the condition that the owner turns in a
construction schedule by the next hearing.
May 10, 2001 —Owner appeared. (No construction schedule)
June 14, 2001 —Owner appeared. The owner promised to have repaired within 60 days.
November 1, 2001 —No appearance.
December 6, 2001-Owner appeared. Owner again promised to have repairs completed in 60 days.
February 7, 2002—No appearance.
August 1, 2002—No appearance. Property condemned.
The owner had a permit on June 20, 2001 for general repairs but the permit expired on December 20,
2001.
At the hearing on August 1, 2002 the inspector reported that the owner never shows for appointments.
permits were expired, and there was no change to property, therefore,the dwelling was condemned as a
nuisance to the neighborhood.

request for an appeal on the condemnation of a one-story wood framed dwelling, legally described as

WHEREAS, said appeal complies with the requirements as set forth in Section 43-38 Appeal Procedure
of Division 4 of Unsafe Buildings of General Ordinance of the City of Omaha, passed June 27, 1995 as
amended; and,
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Omaha as directed by Section 43-38 Appeal Procedure of
Division 4 of Unsafe Buildings of General Ordinance of the City of Omaha, passed June 27, 1995 as
amended, has set Tuesday, September 17, 2002, as the date of Hearing on the Appeal of Condemnation of
the above-mentioned property.
THEREFORE, You as Owner, Lessee, Mortgagee of Record, Occupant, or Interested Party of such
