The Resolution included a date of October 8, 2002, for the Task Force to "... remain active and in effect..." Mr. Gernandt has indicated that the Task Force requires additional time for outside research. He requests an extension of time from October 8, 2002, to December 6, 2002. Please provide an appropriate backing to the City Clerk as soon as possible. INFORMATION ATTACHED: YES X NO NONE AVAILABLE rm c: Councilmembers, City Clerk, Paul Landow, Personnel Director, Council Staff • CITY OF OMAHA = 134-5 t / 3a- ail 6/i/Au LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebr RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: WHEREAS, there is a high level of interest shown in affirmative action within the City of Omaha, as evidenced by the large number of proposals being discussed by councilmembers, employees and by citizens; and, WHEREAS, a task force comprised of nine members, with one representative appointed by each of the nine following groups: Omaha Police Union Local 101, Omaha Fire Union Local 385, Nebraska Public Employees Local 251, Midwest Guardians, Women Police Officers Association, Black Firefighters Association, Latino Police Officers Association, Mayor's Office, and the City Council whose councilmember representative will be appointed by • resolution of the City Council, will help bring cohesiveness to the issues and result in concrete solutions to the problems surrounding the Affirmative Action plan; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to create such a task force, to be entitled "City Council Task Force on Affirmative Action Referrals." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE,CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, there is hereby created a "City Council Task Force on Affirmative Action Referrals" to be comprised of nine members, with one representative appointed by each of the nine following groups: Omaha Police Union Local 101, Omaha-Eire Union Local 385, Nebraska Public Employees Local 251, Midwest Guardians, Women Police Officers Association, Black Firefighters Association, Latino Police Officers Association, Mayor's Office, and the City Council whose councilmember representative will be appointed by resolution of the City Council.
