The attached Resolution approves the issuance of a Purchase Order number to the Metropolitan
Utilities District in the amount of$195,000.00. This Purchase Order will allow the Metropolitan
Utilities District to install, abandon and adjust new gas and water mains for the construction of
the pedestrian tunnel from OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage to the new Union Pacific
Headquarters building. This work is in accordance with the Redevelopment Agreement that was
approved by the City Council for this project.
The Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of this water and gas main work from the
OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage Project Fund 13487, Organization 131721, Year 2002
funding. The estimated cost of this work is $195,000.00. The work to be performed and the
associated costs are described in the attached letter from the Metropolitan Utilities District.
It is the intent of the City Council of the City of Omaha to issue bonds to pay for the project in
the near future.
The Planning and Finance Departments recommend the issuance of a Purchase Order to the
Metropolitan Utilities District for installation, abandonment, and adjustment of gas and water
mains in various street rights-of-way for the OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage Pedestrian Tunnel
project in the approximate amount of$195,000.00 and requests your consideration and approval
of this Purchase Order.

RE: Status of Utilities for Pedestrian Tunnel on Dodge Street; 13th Street to 15th Street,
Omaha, NE. (M.U.D. Job Nos.WCH 9510,WAH 3157 and GCH 12381, GAH 3228)
Dear Mr. Dolezal:
The District owns the following facilities within the construction limits of this project: (1) 12", 10"
and 8"cast iron water mains in Dodge Street. (2)4"cast iron gas main in 13th Street. The extent
of rehabilitation work is as follows:
(1) Abandon in place 930'of 12", 10"and 8"cast iron water mains and install 1120'of 12"and 8"
ductile iron water mains from approximately 14th Street to 13th Street in Dodge Street.
(2) Raise with bends 75' of existing 4"plastic gas main in 13th Street.
All work will be done by the District concurrent with or prior to your project.
This work is reimbursable because the project is of a private nature. The total estimate for this
work is $195,000.00. This work will be invoiced on a time and material basis. The City of Omaha
must submit a purchase order for this amount, payable to the District, to my attention to release
this work to construction. Receipt of the purchase order indicates the City's agreement to the •
District's terms herein.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, it is necessary to abandon, install and adjust gas and water mains for
the OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage Pedestrian Tunnel; and,
WHEREAS, the financial responsibility to accomplish this work lies with the City
of Omaha in accordance with the terms of the Redevelopment Agreement; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to undertake this work to successfully complete the
Redevelopment Project; and,
WHEREAS, it is the expressed intent of the City Council of the City of Omaha to
issue bonds to reimburse the City of Omaha for all expenditures of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to issue a Purchase Order to the
Metropolitan Utilities District for abandonment, installation and adjustment of gas and water
mains in various street rights-of-way for the OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage Pedestrian Tunnel
Project in the approximate amount of $195,000.00 from the OmahaPark Eight Parking Garage
