This Resolution honors Fred Vak who has retired from his position as Drafting Technician with the City of Omaha Planning Department after 43 years of public service to the citizens of the City of Omaha. Also, this Resolution makes a finding pursuant to Section 5.21 of the City Charter that the drafting table utilized by Mr. Vak during his tenure is no longer usable, and . authorizes the transfer of the drafting table to Mr. Vak upon the tendering of $25.00. This determination that the table is unusable is made upon the recommendation of the Planning Director and the Finance Director. This Resolution will be doing the following: • Recognize that Fed Vak has recently retired from the City of Omaha Planning Department after 43 years of employment in the Drafting Division of that Department; • • That in appreciation and recognition of his dedicated and faithful service the City of Omaha conveys to Fred Vak his drafting table used by him during his tenure in that division; • Furthermore; that said drafting table is deemed no longer needed by the City of Omaha Planning Department has zero value and, therefore, suitable for convenience to Mr. Vak upon the tendering of$25.00 for the drafting table. Please draft the Resolution so that these points are captured in essence. INFORMATION ATTACHED: YES NO X NONE AVAIL ABLE rm c: Councilmember Garry Gernandt; Paul Landow, Mayor's Office; Bob Peters, Planning Director; Buster Brown, City Clerk; Council Staff 25A CITY OF OMAHA LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebraska RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: WHEREAS, in January. 2004, Fred Vak retired from his position as Drafting Technician with the City of Omaha Planning Department, Drafting Division; and, WHEREAS, during his career with the City of Omaha, he was stationed at three City Halls and worked for a total of 14 Mayors; and, WHEREAS, he was responsible for drawing several generations of Omaha and Vicinity maps, addressing over 26,000 lots and assigning street names in nearly 200 subdivisions; and, WHEREAS, he maintained the Planning Department map archives; and, WHEREAS, he has dedicated himself to public service for the citizens of the City of Omaha for 43 years; and, WHEREAS, in appreciation and recognition of his dedicated and faithful service, the City of Omaha desires to convey to him the drafting table used by him during his tenure in the Drafting Division of the Omaha Planning Department; and, WHEREAS, the City of Omaha has determined, upon recommendation of the Finance Director, and consistent with Section 5.21 of the Charter of the City of Omaha, that the drafting table utilized by Fred Vak is unusable for City purposes and has no value to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, Mayor Mike Fahey and the City Council, on behalf of themselves, and the citizens of Omaha, do hereby express their deep gratitude for the 43 years of public service of Fred Vak, who enriched this community with his service, devotion, hard work and resolve all for the betterment of the community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: THAT, the City Council authorizes disposal of the drafting table used by Fred Vak during his tenure with the City of Omaha Planning Department Drafting Division by transferring it to him upon the tendering of$25.00 to the City of Omaha Finance Department.
