Transmitted herewith is a Resolution establishing the speed limits on sections of streets in the
City of Omaha. Listed below are the sections of streets that the Public Works Department
recommends should have the speed limits changed and/or established:
99th Street between Military Road and Blair High Road. There is currently no
speed limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be
set at 30mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city.
Military Road from 10550 West to 10650 West. There is currently no speed limit
set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
35mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city.
West Dodge Road from 16000 West to 16800 West. There is currently no speed
limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
55mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city.
West Dodge Road from 16800 West to 17400 West. There is currently no speed
limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
55mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city with an effective
date of May 12, 2004. The effective date establishing the speed limit is
recommended to be May 12, 2004.
Burke Street between 16800 West and 17400 West. There is currently no speed
limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
35mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city with an effective
date of May 12, 2004. The effective date establishing the speed limit is
recommended to be May 12, 2004.

West Center Road from 16800 West to 17700 West. There is currently no speed
limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
45mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city.
West Center Road from 18600 West to 19200 West. There is currently no speed
limit set for this section of road. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
55mph. This section of road was recently annexed into the city.
These speed limits shall be the official speed limits for the City of Omaha as authorized by
Section 36-123 as amended by Ordinance No. 30764 passed August 20, 1985, and effective
September 5, 1985.
The Public Works Department recommends your consideration and approval of the attached
resolution.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 30764 to amend Section 36-123 of the Omaha
Municipal Code was approved by the City Council on August 20, 1985; and,
WHEREAS, said amendment provides that the City Traffic Engineer is
authorized to establish speed limits of a greater or lesser rate of speed than twenty-five (25) miles
per hour for any and all streets within the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, official speed limits for the City of Omaha must be adopted by
Resolution of the City Council of the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has recommended that the following
speed limits be changed and/or established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the speed limits be changed and/or established as follows:
STREET SPEED LIMIT
99th Street between Military Road and Blair High Road 30mph
Military Road from 10550 West to 10650 West 35mph
West Dodge Road from 16000 West to 16800 West 55mph
West Dodge Road from 16800 West to 17400 West 55mph
(Effective May 12, 2004)
