The attached Resolution approves the contract with B&L Construction, Inc. for OPW 50380,
being Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Relocation at 164th and Blondo Streets.

City policy, the Human Relations Director will review the contractor to ensure compliance with
the Contract Compliance Ordinance.
The Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of OPW 50380 from the Sanitary Sewer
Improvement Organization 116911, Sewer Revenue Improvements Fund 21124, 2004

Sue
R & A Construction was the apparent low bidder for the above-mentioned
project. Due to the following reasons the Public Works Depai linent is recommending the second
low bidder.
1. R & A's experience with constant flow systems such as the sewer
interceptor.
2. Due to recent rains and R & A's workload, this project needs to begin as
soon as possible or the existing sanitary sewer system could sustain damage
from the eroding bank of the creek.
3• R & A currently is starting the Vernon circle project and has some other
miscellaneous work to complete on other projects they had contracted with
the City of Omaha.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, bids were submitted on June 2, 2004 for OPW 50380,being Sanitary
Sewer Interceptor Relocation at 164th and Blondo Streets; and,
WHEREAS, B&L Construction, Inc. submitted a bid of $109,294.50 being the
lowest and best bid received for OPW 50380.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the bid of $109,294.50 from B&L Construction, Inc. for OPW 50380,
being Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Relocation at 164th and Blondo Streets, being the lowest and
best bid received within the bid specifications, be accepted and the contract be awarded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, the contract with B&L Construction, Inc., as recommended by the Mayor,
in the amount of$109,294.50 is hereby approved.
BE IT ALSO FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of OPW 50380 from
the Sanitary Sewer Improvement Organization 116911, Sewer Revenue Improvements Fund
21124, 2004 Expenditures.
