Transmitted herewith is a Resolution establishing the speed limits on sections of streets in the
City of Omaha. Listed below are the sections of streets that the Public Works Department
recommends should have the speed limits changed and/or established:
Bennington Road (HWY 36) from 8700 West to the West City Limits. The
current speed limit is 55mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
60mph to be consistent with the speed limits placed by Douglas County east and
west at this location.
Blair High Road from Crown Point Avenue to 10200 West. The current speed
limit is 50mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 45mph based on
an increase of development and traffic volume in the area.
Ida Street from 14600 West to the West City Limits. The current speed limit is
55mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 45mph to be consistent
with the speed limits placed by Douglas County east and west of this location,
also due to an increase in residential development and traffic volumes.
144th Street from 5450 North to the North City Limits. The current speed limit is
55mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 45mph to be consistent
with the speed limits placed by Douglas County north and south of this location,
also due to an increase in residential development and traffic volumes.
US Hwy 75 from McKinley Street to the North City Limits. The current speed
limit is 50mph north of Interstate 680, and 40mph south of 680. It is
recommended the speed limit be set at 40mph for the entire segment.
These speed limits shall be the official speed limits for the City of Omaha as authorized by
Section 36-123 as amended by Ordinance No. 30764 passed August 20, 1985, and effective
September 5, 1985.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: a.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 30764 to amend Section 36-123 of the-Omaha
Municipal Code was approved by the City Council on August 20, 1985; and,

WHEREAS, said amendment provides that the City Traffic Engineer is
authorized to establish speed limits of a greater or lesser rate of speed than twenty-five (25) miles
per hour for any and all streets within the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, official speed limits for the City of Omaha must be adopted by
Resolution of the City Council of the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has recommended that the following
speed limits be changed and/or established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the speed limits be changed and/or established as follows:
STREET SPEED LIMIT
Bennington Road from 8700 West to the
West City Limits 60 MPH
Blair High Road from Crown Point Avenue
to 10200 West 45 MPH
Ida Street from 14600 West to the West City Limits 45 MPH
144th Street from 5450 North to the
North City Limits 45 MPH
US Hwy 75 from McKinley Street to the
North City Limits 40 MPH
