Re: Objection to Rezoning at 144th and Ida Streets
To the Honorable City Council:
With all due respect, we wish to strongly object to the proposed rezoning and
construction plan for the southeast quadrant of 144th and Ida Streets (hereafter the
"proposed development").
Our residence is located at 14075 Ida Street. There is one residence between our home
and the proposed development for which rezoning and a construction plan is being
sought.
Be assured that we are not categorically against development in our neighborhood. We
do, however, believe that the proposed development has far too many structures planned
for too little acreage. Also, the high density and the size of the proposed dwellings would
be out of character for the neighborhood.
Consequently, there is no doubt in our minds that, if the proposed development is
approved, it would have a significantly negative impact on the quality of our lives, and
would lead to a marked depreciation of our property value.
Moreover, we submit that the density and nature of the proposed development would
substantially lessen the tranquility and diminish the enjoyment of the adjacent park, and
would, therefore, be detrimental to literally thousands of Omaha citizens, now and
forever more.
With true respect for your authority and collective wisdom, we encourage and plead with
you to: (1) deny the rezoning and construction plan for the proposed development;and
(2) obtain the acreage in question as an addition to the park, or in the alternative; limit
construction to one home per five acres and with no less than three thousand square feet
of living space in each home.
