The Ordinance transmitted herewith removes an outdated journal procedure by an amendment to
Section 2-81 of the Omaha Municipal Code. References to marginal notations in red ink are
being removed. We can no longer do the margin notations in red ink because red ink cartridges
are no longer available. 'We are examining methods to update creation of the journal instead of
the labor intensive method of using a typewriter to do the margins. The journals would still
contain the same information but in the different format. We would still meet all code
requirements for the journal.
This is very much a housekeeping matter. Your approval of the attached Ordinance is
respectfully requested.

ORDINANCE NO. 4
1 AN ORDINANCE to amend Section 2-81 of the Omaha Municipal Code by removing therefrom
2 language referring to marginal references in red ink in the council journal used to indicate
3 the nature of the record of Council action taken; to provide for repealing Section 2-81 of
4 the Omaha Municipal Code as heretofore existing; and providing for the effective date of
5 this Ordinance.
6 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMANA:
7 Section 1. That Section 2-81 of the Omaha Municipal Code be amended to read as
8 follows:
9 Sec. 2-81. Attendance at council meetings;journal.
10 It shall be the duty of the city clerk to attend all meetings of the city
11 council and keep a correct record of the proceedings thereof. After each meeting,
12 and before the next regular meeting thereafter, the city clerk shall make a full, true
13 and complete journal of such proceedings in proper books provided for that
14 purpose, th i references ; rea ink ill indicate the nature fthe
15 record or the action of the council.
16 Section 2. That Section 2-81 of the Omaha Municipal Code as heretofore existing, is
17 hereby amended.
18 Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect fifteen(15) days from
19 and after the date of its passage.
