Transmitted herewith is a Resolution establishing the speed limits on sections of streets in the
City of Omaha. Listed below are the sections of streets that the Public Works Department
recommends should have the speed limits changed and/or established:
13th Street from Dodge Street to Webster Street. The current speed limit for this
street is 30mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 25mph. This is
an area of redevelopment in the downtown area.
Webster Street from 13th Street to 16th Street. The current speed limit for this
street is 30mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 25mph. This is
an area of redevelopment in the downtown area.
Florence Boulevard from Cuming Street to John Pershing Drive. The current
speed limit for this street is 35mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set
at 30mph. This street is residential in nature and the change will make the speed
limit on all of Florence Boulevard consistent.
Cuming Street from 15th Street to 24th Street. The current speed limit for this
street is 30mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 35mph. Cuming
Street east and west of this section is 35mph. This change would make Cuming
Street a consistent speed limit east of Saddle Creek Road.
Burt Street from 24th Street to Lincoln Boulevard. The current speed limit for this
street is 35mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 30mph. This
street is in an area that experiences high pedestrian crossing volumes.
20th Street from Cuming Street to Florence Boulevard. The current speed limit
for this street is 35mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at 30mph.
This street is being redeveloped to a residential area.

132"a Street from West Dodge Road to West Maple Road. The current speed
limit for this street is 45mph. It is recommended that the speed limit be set at
40mph. 132"a Street south of West Dodge Road is 40mph, and with additional
traffic this change would make 132nd Street more consistent with similar streets.
These speed limits shall be the official speed limits for the City of Omaha as authorized by
Section 36-123 as amended by Ordinance No. 30764 passed August 20, 1985, and effective
September 5, 1985.
The Public Works Department recommends your consideration and approval of the attached
resolution.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 30764 to amend Section 36-123 of..the Omaha
Municipal Code was approved by the City Council on August 20, 1985; and, ":a
WHEREAS, said amendment provides that the City Traffic Engineer is
authorized to establish speed limits of a greater or lesser rate of speed than twenty-five (25) miles
per hour for any and all streets within the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, official speed limits for the City of Omaha must be adopted by
Resolution of the City Council of the City of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has recommended that the following
speed limits be changed and/or established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, the speed limits be changed and/or established as follows:
STREET SPEED LIMIT
13th Street from Dodge Street to Webster Street 25mph
Webster Street from 13th Street to 16th Street 25mph
Florence Boulevard from Cuming Street to John Pershing Drive 30mph
