and Members of the City Council,
The purpose of the attached Resolution, prepared at the request of Councilmember Frank Brown,
is to appoint Michael Green as a member of MECA's Board of Directors.
By virtue of Ordinance 35043, adopted by the City Council on October 19, 1999, the
Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority (MECA) was created. Therein, Article V
(b) of MECA's by-laws provides that all successive directors shall be appointed on an alternating
basis by the Mayor of the City of Omaha and by the City Council for a term of five (5) years. It
is currently the Council's turn to make an appointment and the Council would like to nominate
and appoint Michael Green for a second term commencing on May 10, 2007,and ending on May
9, 2012.

Corporate Board of Directors of FBG Services Inc.. His Latino Politics course at UNO includes
student participation in an interdisciplinary service learning project to address issues of fair
housing, immigration, voter participation and social justice issues in the greater Omaha area. He
represented the State of Nebraska at the 2002 National Hispanic Leadership Summit in
Washington, D.C. He recently published a study for OLLAS of Latino political, social and
economic conditions in Nebraska.
Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado has received numerous grants including: the John Beverly and Elena
Diaz-Verson Amos Foundation; The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; The Ford
Foundation; The Johns Hopkins University Cuba Exchange Program; and the College of Arts and
Sciences at the University of Georgia for his work on Cuba. He was formerly a Project Manager
for the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies
under the direction of Dr.William Potter.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, by virtue of Ordinance No 35043, adopted by the City Council on
October 19, 1999, the Interim Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority (MECA)
was created; and,
WHEREAS, Article V (b) of MECA's by-laws provides that all successive
Directors shall be appointed on an alternating basis first by the Mayor of the City of Omaha and
then by the City Council for a term of five(5) years; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor appointed Michael Green on September 9, 2003 to serve a
term expiring on May 9, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby nominates Michael Green to be a member
of the MECA Board to serve a second term commencing on May 10, 2007, and ending on May
9, 2012.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, Michael Green is hereby appointed by the City Council of the City of
Omaha to the MECA Board of Directors to serve a second five year term commencing on May
10, 2007, and ending on May 9, 2012.
