and Members of the City Council,
The purpose of the attached Resolution is to approve support in the amount of$55,000 for the
Cox Classic Golf Tournament to be held at the Champions Run Country Club from July 26
through July 28, 2007. This event will attract approximately 90,000 spectators and will be
televised live nationally by the Golf Channel and rebroadcast reaching 1.2 million viewers. It
will provide another opportunity for the City to showcase the resources, advantages and
attractions of the metropolitan area.
For such assistance the City of Omaha will have the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau
logo placed on viewing tents, painted on the course grounds, and printed on the Clubhouse
Corporate Hospitality tickets as well as be provided a tent in the retail area to offer Omaha
products. Additionally, its promotional spots will be televised approximately 50 times during the
broadcasts and week following the event.
The $55,000 will be paid $30,000 from Fund 21109, Organization 115914, Line Item 42257 and
$25, 000 from Fund 11111, Organization 101013, Line Item 42221.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the Cox Classic Golf Tournament will be held on July 26- July 29,
2007 at the Champions Run Country Club, in Omaha, Nebraska; and,
WHEREAS, such golf event will be seen by 1.2 million viewers as it is televised
live nationally by the Golf Channel and rebroadcast on such Channel on two separate occasions;
and,
WHEREAS, such tournament will host approximately 90,000 spectators on site,
eight percent of whom reside outside Nebraska and bring approximately 75 Golf Channel
employees to the metropolitan area; and,
WHEREAS, such golf tournament and its broadcast will bring visibility to the
Omaha metropolitan area and provide an opportunity to showcase the resources, attractions and
advantages of the Omaha metropolitan area; and,
WHEREAS, the City. of Omaha desires to support the Cox Classic Golf
Tournament by providing funds in the amount of$55,000 to the tournament sponsors; and,
WHEREAS, the tournament sponsor has arranged for the Golf Channel will air
the City of Omaha's promotional television spots two dozen times during the broadcasts and on
26 other occasions during the week of the Cox Classic and the week following such event; and,
WHEREAS, in further recognition of such support the Cox Classic will place the
Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau logo on viewing tents in the direct line of the Golf
Channel television cameras, paint the logo on the course grounds, and print the logo on the
Clubhouse Corporate Hospitality tickets, and the City will be permitted space in the retail tent
area to offer Omaha products and coupons; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Omaha to support the Cox
Classic with its monetary contribution to promote the City and the metropolitan area; and,
WHEREAS,the Mayor recommends approval of such payment.
