The majority of the final furniture has been awarded to the lowest bidder. Regarding the task seating (Group A) however, we requested each of the five lowest bidders to submit a sample chair. The chair shown was to include all adjustments and features as specified in the bid package. We then tested the task chairs and felt that the "Zoom— Charger" task chair is more durable and comfortable than the "Haworth — Look" model task chair which actually came in at the lowest bid. The cost difference between the two chairs is $6,312.79. The Zoom chair has the widest width with adjustable arms. We feel the additional width would accommodate officers that may wear large gun belts from time to time. The Zoom chair seems to also have sturdier arms. We applied pressure to this chair in the normal movement of rising out of a chair, and it responded better to this action. In addition, there appears to be more "padding"on this model, creating additional comfort and durability. Regarding the task seating (Group A), the City of Omaha requested each of the five lowest bidders to submit a sample chair. This chair was to include all adjustments and features as specified in the bid package. When these chairs were tested the city felt that the "Zoom — Charger" task chair is more durable and comfortable than the "Haworth—Look", "Allsteel —Relate" and "Harter— Antro Accord". The Zoom chair has the widest width with adjustable arms. The additional width would accommodate officers that may wear large gun belts from time to time. The Zoom chair seems to also have sturdier arms. We applied pressure to this chair in the normal movement of rising out of a chair, and it responded better to this action. In addition, there appears to be more "padding" on this model, creating additional comfort and durability.
