FAX(402)444-5314 41Fo FEaR° FAX(402)444-5317 City of Omaha Thomas C.Marfisi Mike Fahey,Mayor Director Honorable President and Members of the City Council, The, attached Ordinance provides for the creation a new classification, Convention Sales Supervisor. The individual holding the position will report to the Convention Sales Manager. A copy of the new classification is attached for your convenience. This new classification is needed because of the growth in the number and depth of the duties and responsibilities of the Convention Sales Manager, as well as the growth in the number of prospective clients and areas of the country the Convention and Visitor's Bureau sales staff has targeted. An incumbent in the proposed classification would, in addition to assisting the Convention Sales Manager with administrative duties, have a territory of the country in which to travel to secure clients. This new classification carries with it a suggested salary level of 20.1MC which has a range of$55,699.80 to $67,736.24. The salary for this classification will not be paid by the City General Fund. All Greater Omaha Convention and Visitor's Bureau salaries are paid out of the Visitor Promotion Fund, a state fund derived from state hotel and motel taxes collected by Douglas County. The classification was submitted and approved by the Personnel Board at its November 30, 2006 meeting.
