City of Omaha Mike Fahey,Mayor Public Works Director Honorable President and Members of the City Council, Transmitted herewith is an Ordinance declaring the necessity of appropriating and acquiring certain private property for the purpose of widening 132"a Street, from Blondo Street to West Maple Road identified as OPW 50344, Federal Aid Project STPC-5003(8). • This Ordinance provides that the City negotiates with the property owners for said property,and that the property that cannot be obtained by negotiations be condemned. Payment for all costs incurred for the right-of-way necessary for the project shall be paid from the 2007 Transportation Bond Issuance Organization 117112, 2006 Transportation Fund 13182. To assure continuity and consistency in pedestrian improvements and site features, all lots will install specific sidewalks and site features following the design guidelines as provided in Exhibits B and the following criteria, for Lot 66, as a condition of building permit approval: 1. All pedestrian crossings must be distinguished from other driving surfaces by integrally colored crosswalks at least ten (10) feet in width. (Concrete must be colored throughout, not surface applied color such as paint or stain.) 2. Intersections of the plaza sidewalks with streets and driveways shall be defined by(4)four traffic bollards , (2) at each end of the crossing placed no closer than six(6)feet on center, at each intersection. 3. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: Section 1. That it is proper and necessary and it is hereby declared proper and necessary to appropriate certain lands for the purpose of widening 132nd Street, from Blondo Street to West Maple Road identified as OPW 50344,Federal Aid Project STPC 5003(8). Said property and lands necessary for such purposes are described as follows: See the attached Exhibit "A" plat drawing of abutting properties for which land acquisitions, permanent easements and temporary construction easements will be needed to complete this project. Section 2. That the Public Works Department of the City of Omaha be, and it hereby is, authorized,empowered,and directed to negotiate,through either employees of the City of Omaha or through persons employed therefor or through any combination thereof, with the owners of the above-described properties for the acquisition of said properties by the City of Omaha for aforesaid purposes.
