Attached is a Resolution authorizing the City of Omaha to recognize and commend the Omaha
Police Department and Former Chief Thomas Warren, Sr. for achieving re-accreditation for the
third time by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on
November 17, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Re-accreditation is a significant achievement by the Omaha Police Department, and Former
Chief Thomas Warren, Sr. demonstrating the Omaha Police Department's commitment to
professional law enforcement in policy and practice.

Care Committee, Red Cross, Public Health and the Medical Reserve Corps will help assure that as a
community we have taken steps to care for individuals with special needs and those with disabilities.

WHEREAS, the Omaha Police Department was re-accredited for the third time
for a period of three years by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
(CALEA) on November 17, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
WHEREAS, the Omaha Police Department's re-accreditation represents the
exemplary completion of a continuous process of a thorough agency wide self-evaluation,
concluded by an exacting outside review by a team of independent assessors.
WHEREAS, the accreditation process represents the Omaha Police Department's
ongoing high level of professional excellence as evidenced by achieving professionally
recognized criteria for excellence in management and service to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
