This event will attract a minimum of 2,500 convention planning decision makers. It will provide another opportunity for the City to showcase the resources, advantages and attractions of the metropolitan area. • The $30,000 will be paid from Fiscal Year 2008, Fund 21109, Organization 115914, Account 42221. Your favorable consideration is requested. WHEREAS, the OCVB has the opportunity to be one of seven sponsors to host the American Society of Association Executives national event on August 18, 2008, which will be attended by at least 2,500 convention planning decision makers who represent approximately 40 million diverse convention delegates; and, WHEREAS, Omaha Steaks, an Omaha corporation, recognizes this national opportunity and will partner with the OCVB providing a celebrity chef and steak samples to all attendees; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Omaha and its convention sales efforts to authorize the OCVB to be a sponsor of the American Society of Association Executives national event and contribute an amount not to exceed $30,000 to purchase such sponsorship and to assist in payment of travel expenses of attendees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau is authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $30,000, to purchase one of the seven sponsorships for the August 18, 2008 American Society of Association Executives national event and to assisting in paying travel expenses of attendees of such event; and, FURTHER THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to pay such $30,000 cost from the Fiscal Year 2008, Fund 21109, Organization 115914, Account 42221.
