RES 2008-1584 - Legislative package include proposal to increase penalties for carying concealed weapon C-25A • CITY OF OMAHA LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebraska RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: • WHEREAS, on January 7, 2009, the One-Hundred and First Legislature of the State of Nebraska,First Session,will convene; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Omaha and its residents that a legislative package be prepared for submission to the State Legislature; and, WHEREAS, it is the purpose of this resolution to approve a specific proposal for inclusion in that package; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, at the request of Council President Dan Welch, the legislative package of the City of Omaha for the First Session of the One-Hundred and First Legislature of the State of Nebraska shall include a proposal to amend existing statutes to increase the penalties for carrying a concealed weapon and to allow city ordinance convictions and other state convictions to be used for enhancement of penalties for conviction of the state offense of carrying a concealed weapon. (Gernandt) g) Introduce legislation calling for a constitutional amendment to allow ticket issuing law enforcement agencies to split the fines of parking tickets and moving violations on a 50-50 basis with schools. To ensure that all obligations under any contract awarded as a result of this bid solicitation are met,the City of Omaha will conduct specific review of the Contractor's PBE/DBE involvement efforts during contract performance. The Contractor shall bring to the attention of the Human Rights and Relations Director any situation in which regularly scheduled progress payments are not made to PBE/DBE subcontractors. In submitting its bid,the Bidder is certifying that it has contacted City of Omaha Human Rights and Relations Department prior to bid opening regarding this project and has afforded subcontractors participating in the PBE/DBE program the opportunity to submit bids on this project. Failure to comply with the above shall result in the bid being rejected by the City of Omaha. d,and telephone numbers of PBE/DBEs that were conta cted; (2) A description of the information provided to PBE/DBEs regarding the plans and specifications for portions of the work to be performed;and, (3) A detailed statement of the reasons why additional prospective agreements with PBE/DBEs needed to meet the stated goals,were not reached. e. Advertisement in general circulation media,trade association publications,and protected-focus media for a reasonable period before bids are due; f.
