Transmitted herewith is a Resolution authorizing the issuance of a purchase order to Bert Gurney
& Associates, Inc. for rebuilding a large raw sewage pump located at the Papillion Creek
Wastewater Treatment Plant. The inlet raw sewage pumps were installed in 1975 and have been
rebuilt several times since the initial installation.
The Public Works Department recommends that bidding procedures be waived in accordance
with Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter of 1956 for the purchase of unique or non-
competitive items. Bert Gurney & Associates, Inc. is the local representative for the
manufacturers of these pumps. The cost for rebuilding the raw sewage pump is $47,980, which
will be paid from the Sewer Revenue Fund 21121, Papillion Creek Plant Maintenance
Organization 116614.
Bert Gurney and Associates, Inc. has filed the annual contract compliance form CC-1 with the
Human Rights and Relations Department.
The Public Works Department requests your consideration and approval of the attached
Resolution.

We are pleased to propose the following scope of supply for your consideration.
One (1) Rebuild of existing Ingersoll-Dresser 30" pump, 30MNZ33-FR8HA,
SIN 98-03-MS000445-1.
Scope of repair includes the following:
1) Send Crew and Equipment to remove pump including volute from above
location (will utilize crane at job site).
2) Deliver pump assembly to Fairbanks Morse repair facility.
3) Disassemble, clean and inspect.
4) Bead blast all components as needed.
5) Provide the following new pump components; impeller wear ring, impeller
key, shaft sleeve, volute gasket, all lip seals, all bearings, bearing lock
washer, bearing locknut, shims, front head case ring, packing, deflector and
hardware as needed for rotating assembly build up.
6) Install new wear ring on impeller and front head.
7) Handwork I Dynamic balance to Fairbanks Morse Standards.
8) Assemble and paint.
9) Deliver to Papillion Creek VVWTP location.
10) Field installation front head wear ring.
11) Install rotating assembly. '

item of supply unless specifically mentioned In the preceding scope of supply.
SHIPMENT SCHEDULE:
SHIPMENT can be scheduled for 9-11 weeks after receipt of approved submittal and
written notice to proceed with manufacturing for the rebuild option.
TERMS OF PAYMENT:
NET 30 DAYS, 1.5% per month late payment charge on any unpaid balance.
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE:
Per attached BERT GURNEY.& ASSOCIATES CONDITIONS. No monies or
contingencies have been included for acceptance of different or additional Terms &
Conditions of Sale.
CLARIFICATION/EXCEPTIONS:
A) This quotation includes only the parts or processes specifically outlined
above. Any other parts or processes judged to be necessary by the seller will
be quoted separately at an extra cost, and will be included only after the
approval and authorization by the Customer. Warranty will be contingent on
the inclusion of any processes deemed necessary by the seller.
B} The above quotation includes removal and installation, freight to and from
Fairbanks Morse facility, and test operation of pump.

RESOLVED BY THE.CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the City of Omaha is operating the Papillion Creek Wastewater Treatment
Plant to treat and clean wastewater from the western part of the City; and,
•
WHEREAS, the plant uses very large raw sewage pumps at the inlet to the plant to move
all incoming wastewater through the primary treatment process; and,
WHEREAS, an existing raw sewage pump requires rebuilding and the local
representative for the manufacturer, Bert Gurney&Associates, Inc. is the sole source provider of
parts and service for these pumps, it is recommended that the bidding procedures be waived in
accordance with Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter of 1956 for the purchase of unique or
non-competitive items and that the parts and labor to rebuild the raw sewage pump will be
supplied by the manufactures repair facility according to the attached documentation; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of rebuilding the raw sewage pump for the Papillion Creek
Wastewater Treatment Plant is $47,980, which will be paid from the Sewer Revenue Fund
21121, Papillion Creek Plant Maintenance Organization 116614.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the Purchase Order to Bert Gurney&Associates,
Inc. for rebuilding a raw sewage pump for the Papillion Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, in
accordance with Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter of 1956 for the purchase of unique or
non-competitive items is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to pay Bert Gurney & Associates, Inc. for
rebuilding a raw sewage pump for the Papillion Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant$47,980 from
the Sewer Revenue Fund 21121, Papillion Creek Plant Maintenance Organization 116614.
